Trouble TTC

Just another intro :)

Hi Ladies,

I posted occasionally over on TTGP but have been lurking over here more now so I figure it's time to introduce myself.

I am 27 and DH is 34.  We have been together for 4 years and married for 1.5 years.  We have one furbaby, a Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier mix named Wilson. We started TTC in September 2013 and I just started my 15th cycle.

I already did a lot of the testing with my ob/gyn.  My CD3 bloodwork was normal, HSG was all clear, and DH's SA looked good (80 million total count with good morphology and motility). My insurance only covers infertility testing (after a lot of phone calls, since they immediately reject any test coded as infertility). So now we are switching to DH's insurance, which has pretty good infertility coverage as long as we go to approved centers.  One of the approved centers is CNY fertility, so I will be calling them soon to try to schedule something for January when our new insurance kicks in.

My ob/gyn did offer me Clomid and I admit, I did take it last month.  I know, stupid to do without monitoring.  When I asked her about monitoring, she said it wouldn't really change the outcomes since I already ovulate and when I asked about cysts, she said we could do an ultrasound if I had really bad pain.  So I decided I'm not comfortable trying Clomid again without monitoring and we are doing natural cycles until next year.

Anyways, thanks for reading this and I look forward to getting to know you all!

  • Welcome! I am glad you have another insurance option that offers better coverage. We are only covered for testing and it's really frustrating. Also, good on you for deciding to only do monitored Clomid cycles. I hope your stay here is short and sweet!

  • Thank you ladies! I am really glad that we will have infertility coverage next year but just wish we could get this show on the road sooner.  I know we could go see the RE without insurance coverage but it just makes more financial sense to wait a few months until it is covered by insurance.  When we were deciding whose insurance to pick during open enrollment last year, I didn't even think to look at infertility coverage!
