I had this strange idea pop in my head. I want to/ think that I could be good at roller durby. Does anyone here do that? I used to roller skate early age through teens. I even remember when rollerblades came out and I thought, that's not going to last. I think it might be fun.
I just signed up for a 30 day yoga challenge. 10-20 minute video sent to your email every day for a month...wondering if I can keep up with it! Also, long nap days are the best. Toddler is about to pass the three hour mark, baby is going on two. I've been able to watch many episodes of my show with no interruptions. Amazing.
No tips, but my work wifey is a derby pro. She wears tights to work every day to cover the bruises! She's had a collapsed lung and fractured hip in the last season alone.
@brls2003, I'm doing the doyouyoga challenge. https://www.doyouyoga.com/challenge/ They send a 10-20 minute video to you via email every day. Totally free to sign up and having done the first one with both babies awake this afternoon, it's totally doable. I did have to open a packet of cookies mid pigeon pose, but still doable . Definitely worth a try!
I always chuckle when I see a solo shoe on the side of the freeway on the way to work. How do they get there? Did someone throw their shoe out the window in a rage because they were stuck in traffic?? If you've ever had your shoe end up on the side of the freeway/highway/interstate please enlighten me as to how it got there.
@miami3022 i wonder if you are going through withdrawals? i watched 'fat sick and nearly dead', a documentary mostly about when the guy gives up food by juicing for a month. It was a good film, he lost a lot of weight, but did go through withdrawals.
@kaysa2, that sounds like a sport that is right up my alley. Is there a lot of spectators? Is it weird or do you not even notice them? What was the worst injury you've had? What is the time constraints? Have you been involved in a teammate selection or tryouts? Is there specific areas that is necessarily to have such as faster speed. I know we have a local team that we're having tryouts, I was trying to get my friend that was my fellow weekend rollerskater growing up to go check it out with me, my work schedule currently is a huge drawback. I work at 8pm and every other weekend. It is something that I do seriously want to consider doing for myself once I get to a day schedule.
@kaysa2 , that sounds like so much fun. Perhaps when DS2 gets older and I can commit to time requirements. There might be a window of a couple years I could make that happen. I do regret not pressuring it sooner.
@KrystaJ I know it's a few years off, but have you considered coaching LO in hockey? My son played and the parent coaches went up levels with the kids.
Just wanted to say that while we're on the subject of roller derby, I love the movie Whip It. Would you say it's an accurate portrayal or grossly exaggerated @kaysa2 (if you've seen it)? Just curious.

I miss yoga so much. I haven't practiced regularly in a year now. It's so good for the mind.
