3rd Trimester

Temporary hard bump

Hi, sometimes when my baby moves, I get this really hard local bump. It kind of hurts, but then goes away after a few seconds. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant but I've notice this throughout the whole pregnancy. Does anybody have the same thing happening to them?

Re: Temporary hard bump

  • Probably Braxton Hicks contractions. Nothing to worry about - totally normal.

  • Whole belly hardness is probably BH but small hard spots is probably baby.  I often get a palm sized hard spot on the top of my bump, I assume its her butt.  Small half dollar sized on my left side are probably her feet. It hurts sometimes, I usually gently push on the spot to get her move.

  • Yes, It's probably a body part.

  • If its up toward the top, it could be baby's butt. Thats what I have. If its your entire stomach getting hard, that's BH.

  • Like everyone else said small spots hard are body parts. It is uncomfortable. BH is whole belly hardness uncomfortable as well.
  • I get this, or something similar, every time I lay down. Just below my belly button on the right side I get this hard lump and it does go the whole way across to my left side, just not as pronounced. When that happens, my uterus feels a little tight and I feel a little pressure. If I gently push on it, it does go away after a little bit. So, I'm assuming it's the baby.
