So next week I'm going to visit my parents out of town over night but I only have one pack n play, a toddler and a newborn.. Should I yet to get the toddler to sleep with me and put the new born in the PNP or the toddler in the pnp and the newborn with me? My bassinet is too big for my car and I planned on bringing her bouncy chair for the daytime

  • If it was me, I would put the toddler in the PnP and the newborn in the bouncy seat. DD sleeps in her bouncy all the time, especially at MIL's house when I bring it with us. I also put DD in bouncy when she has gas at night b/c the vibrator helps break up the bubbles. It's up to you, but that's what I would do.

  • Depends on what you're more comfortable with. If it were me I'd sleep with the newborn and try to get the toddler in the PnP. He sleeps in his on bed and she sleeps with me at home so that would mimic what we already do.
  • I know other people do it, but I would not get a wink of sleep with my newborn in the bed.  I think it is really dangerous if you're not used to it and you don't have sleeping arrangements that prevent her from falling off or getting smothered.  My toddler isn't nearly as fragile, so I might try her in the bed, although she'd probably not sleep well and bother me.  I would try the toddler in the pack n play and newborn in the bouncy seat.  Or ask your parents to get a pack n play at their house for visits.  They are inexpensive and even less expensive on craigslist, or someone your parents know probably has one they can have or borrow.

I've coslept twice and let's say that I wasn't the one doing the sleeping. It scares me.
Actually asking them to have one isn't a half bad idea.. Thanks :)
  • I'm visiting my parents this weekend and in the same dilemma! I *think* I'm going to try toddler in the bed. Baby will be in the RNP. I'm gonna try not to lug the PNP with me if I can help it.

Lol I'm not sure I'd want to cosleep with my toddler .. She makes a ridiculous amount of noise in her sleep and is all over the place in her sleep.. I'd probably wake with her foot in my eye or something
  • I actually got lucky and was gifted two PnPs and a RnP with DD1. So instead of returning one I just left one at my moms. It really has made things a lot easier, gave me one less stupid thing to accidentally leave behind!! :) it wouldn't be a bad idea if getting ahold of an extra was possible? My grandma always just had one when we were growing up, so maybe your parents might want one anyways?
  • There are companies that rent out baby equipment for cheap, we've used them at a ski resort and in Maui, maybe there's one where your parents live/

  • Hey I went to Maui a few months ago lol.. I'm sure there probably is. Sac is a big city
