  • It's all about weight distribution. Depending on how you are built, it may be next week, it may not be for quite a while.

  • For my first baby, I didn't show until way into my 2nd trimester.  I did, however, wear maternity clothes that were empire waist style so instead of the assumption I was getting fatter, I would get the question - "When are you due?"  This time around, I feel like I am showing sooner, but I agree with PP that it's probably just weight distribution.

  • I was a size 16 before I got pregnant with my second.  I already have a gigantic belly that is perfectly round like a pregnant woman.  So people thnink i am alot farther along than i am.  Its really just my stomach being pushed up.  So I was "showing" to other people at like 7 weeks.  Now I look about 20 weeks along.  But its just my fat on top of my bloated stomach.  Either way... I'm cool with it. Ha.

  • I'm a size 12 and 5'7 so not plus but not small either. I'm 15 weeks Friday with twins and I'm not showing. Now people think I am but I think the babies just pushed my tummy higher. I'm still wearing my prepregnancy cloths and haven't gained a pound. I'm guessing by 20 weeks I'll be showing
  • I'm pregnant with #4 . I am over weight size 16 pre-pregnancy. Now on week 18 all my cloths are loose. I'm losing weight and have no bump. The baby is great though. This has never happened to me in any pregnancy till now. Anyone else have a similar experience ?
  • Very intersting thread! I am overweight as well and sadly not showing. Clothes are starting to not fit but I dont LOOK pregnant, just like I gained weight. I'm 18.5 weeks. I've been loosing weight and Dr is happy w that since baby is developing as it should be up to this point.

I know so long as my baby is growing and developing I should not complain. But still crossing my fingers for a bump.
  • Just glad to know this thought isn't mine alone. :) I'll be 20w on Tuesday. Luckily, I lost about 20lbs before we found out, so I'm still in my normal sz 22 clothes, they're just becoming not so big anymore. Im so dreading the day I have to go find maternity clothes. Can't even phathom where to start looking! Hoping maybe I can get away with stretchy dresses and skirts, leggings, tunics in a larger size and maxi dresses once spring hits. Maybe I'll just sew a mumu or two and live in those. Lol....Anyone else want one ???
  • I was concerned about this, too. I'm a plus sized lady and was worried about showing a cute round bump. I'm 18w2d and within just the last couple of days I've "popped"! Not quite the round beach ball style I covet, but I'm getting there... May even join the HDBD board this week (yay!)

JCPenny has been great for adorable, well-priced plus maternity clothes. Currently living in this dress.

  • I didn't really look pregnant until about 20 weeks and even then it was confusable (yes just created a word)
Honestly, people were only sure around 7 months. Sigh. #biggirlprobs :((

Sounds like me! This is my first, in non-maternity clothes or in my underwear I just look fat with a b-shaped bump, add an empire-waist shirt and BOOM looks like a regular old baby bump under there. I'm 21w so I know that SOME of it is baby (or baby pushing up on my fat), so at this point I am just owning it. I figure this is one time in my life I don't have to worry about what I look like from the side!!  :)

To the OP, like others have said, we have no way of knowing. Every body is different!
