  • I don't mind the time change. I feel so refreshed in the mornings now that it's light out and I get an extra hour.

Your kids must not be getting up at 4am like mine. Today was better DD was up 4:45, DS 5:10.

I have always loved the fall time change!  I feel so much better in the morning when it's actually getting light out when I leave for work.  But I know we got very lucky with LO because she seemed to have shifted to sleeping later the day before the time change so our mornings have not been starting any earlier.

  • Im glad people are still coming here even if they are on FB. I opted not to join FB for privacy reasons and Im happy people are still coming here.
I'm glad there is still some activity but it's definitely a lot less and I miss it.  Some people seem to have almost completely gone over to fb and many are posting a lot less.  I didn't attempt to join the fb group because it's difficult for me to get on at work and I also heard that it's kind of hard to keep up with the group.

Oh I got one! I like that Christmas stuff comes out early! I love Christmas and I think the season passes by too fast and don't mind the extension! :)

I agree! Hobby Lobby starts bringing it out in August and I LOOOVE it. I'm starting to decorate for Christmas next week because it's already snowed here. I think that counts.

---------------------------------------------Haha! I wish I could decorate for Christmas. My DH would make fun of me. Plus we are having guests this weekend and they would probably laugh at me. :/

Re Christmas: what are you guys doing about a tree? How will you keep babies away from it? It's hard enough with cats...

When DS was this age he actually never played with it. I put the ornaments higher where he couldn't reach them. Everytime he went to the tree I just said no and redirected. I'm assuming I'll do the same this year. We are actually getting a real tree this year! I'm so excited.
  • I don't like potato chips at all.
  • @Risalyn222‌ I feel the same about Christmas. I love it and all the magic SO much!
  • @sweett11 - I bought cheap unbreakable ornaments last year to decorate the tree for a few years since most of my ornaments are glass and can barely hold up with a clumsy DH, let alone a small child.  Our tree is going in the corner of our family room and I plan on putting up the tree as normal with the cheap ornaments and seeing how Julia is with the tree.  If she really tries to mess with it too much, the plan is to block it with the play yard.

A couple people have suggested I put it up on a little table.

  • We are going to get one of those flexible gates and will gate off the tree. I wanted to skip a tree this year but my H was adamant. So we'll see how this goes considering my LO likes eating anything she can find on the floor...I foresee a lot of pine needles in her diet.

    Like a coffee table?
I guess kind of like a small coffee table, just in the corner or something.

  • I just love Christmas! It's so special, even more so now with kids. I just want to bottle all the Magic of it all through their eyes and hold onto it forever.
Ughhh me too! DD2 is in first grade and I want to freeze her. I know that question is coming in the next couple of years and I'm sure she will start hearing other kids talk soon.

I hope I can keep her believing for a couple more years.

I STILL remember when I found out. I was devastated and so jealous of my brother and sister because they still believed.

I fear that Julia is going to find out a lot sooner than I would like.  My niece and nephew are 9 and 10 and still believe as far as I know.  And if they don't, I know they will play along for Julia's sake.  But DH's nephews are young and have not grown up believing.  I just know one of them will tell her Santa isn't real.  I'm already trying to prepare for that happening in a few years.

  • Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much super busy! I do have a UO today though: leave your personal problems at home away from work!!! Seriously we all have problems but don't come into work everyday and bitch and moan, if you're that unhappy change it!
I say this is a UO bc at my work 9 out of 10 people do this and then leave bc their personal issues...
  • I'm sad we probably won't get Santa pictures for LO's first Christmas.  She is still terrified of pretty much any man that gets too close to her so I know she would be a mess if we tried to make her sit on Santa's lap.  Maybe we'll do a family photo with Santa - do people do that?

  • I've seen family photos with Santa, I don't think that's weird for a little one.

My UO-I think most Gymboree clothes are ugly.  Some people are OBSESSED and I just don't get it.
I still like Gymboree but I think they were a lot cuter a few years ago.  I was so disappointed when I started shopping for LO and found that they weren't what I remembered.  And I think The Children's Place used to be much better as well.  But I am annoyed that where I live, every store seems to have mostly Carters - like 90% of the stock is Carters.  It's hard to get anything that is not Carters here and all of the stores have the same damn clothes.  I like Carters but I would like some variety.

  • Maybe this is a UO, but I get a lot of baby clothes from a second-hand store. It seems like they do have more variety, plus I'm cheap
  • I think Gymboree quality has gone down from what it was a few years ago. I also agree with @arnold94 that i hate how every Carters thing has a stupid saying "moms hero", "daddys buddy", etc. I have been happy latly with kohls. inexpensive, cute. does it look worn after a while, yup but when i can buy for around $3 an item and DS outgrows in 3 months  im happy.

  • I don’t get the small kids' stores that don't leave room enough for you to bring in a stroller. I understand this is expensive real estate, but do lots of people (moms) go kids' clothes shopping solo? Must be nice!

Our Carter's outlet is like that. They were having a big sale last weekend and it was a claustrophobic person's worst nightmare.

  • The UO's and FFFC's are awful. AWFUL. Boring. Lame.

    Like most of you.
