Chart question

Ok, so I'm wondering if my CBEFM missed my LH surge this cycle. My temps are indicating that I O'd on CD13, but the CBEFM hasn't hit peak yet. It only has you measure once a day with FMU, though, which isn't ideal for LH, so I'm thinking maybe I O'd already and it didn't catch it? What do you think?

And for those not familiar with CBEFM - it detects an increase in estrogen levels, which usually signals than an LH surge is not far away, and gives you a "High" rating on the monitor (the green "H" in one of the chart rows). It keeps your rating at high until it detects an LH surge and then gives you a "Peak" rating for 2 days then goes back to low. If it doesn't detect an LH surge, then your rating stays at "High" until all eternity (essentially. Not going to get into the nitty gritty details :) ).

Re: Chart question

  • You'll need at least one more temp to confirm, but that is a pretty significant shift. I would say you O'd on CD13 and your monitor missed your LH surge.

  • Yeah, I thought yesterday was a fluke temp, but then today's came. I'll definitely wait until tomorrow's (what choice do I have? ;) ), but this would be the first time the monitor has missed the surge. It does look like it might have, though, huh. I'm glad I'm not the only one reading it that way. And it would be good news, too, since if I O'd on CD13 then we hit O-1 and O-2 before DH went to the hospital (planned this time to close his PFO).

  • Sorry to bump this up, but FF is confirming what I'm thinking. I guess I'm just a little puzzled that the monitor missed the surge.

Has anyone had this happen before? I thought LH surges could usually be detected for at least 24 hours.

  • When I was on TTGP a lot of the ladies tested twice a day to make sure they didn't miss their LH surge. My understanding is that it can be pretty short, like it could be negative in the morning, positive in the evening, and negative the next morning again. I also read that LH is higher later in the day, so maybe it was missed because of using FMU?

  • I had always thought the "test 2x / day" thing was so that you could catch it as early as possible and not lose any time. But my temp shifts have always been pretty obvious and accurate (even those earlier temps close to the cover line are from the couple of days after the daylight savings time change when my body was still adjusting), so it's pretty clear that this time, the CBEFM missed the surge. Now I'll have to think about whether it's worth getting some cheapo OPKs for the evenings if I don't get a BFP this cycle...
