TTC with femara & progesterone (one daughter and 3 losses)

Hi all! My husband and I have been TTC for over 3 years now. We started trying 2-3 yrs ago and got preg 3 times, but lost in first trimester each time. We took a year off and started trying again 8 months ago, but I haven't gotten preg yet. I'm 41 and, yes, I do ovulate. I have had ultrasounds to make sure everything looks good. I have a 23 yr old, so I know I can carry a baby. I'm currently taking femara and oral progesterone. Is it normal to spot or have pink to blackish discharge on progesterone? It makes it difficult for me to know when the actual start of my period is. Also, if I sleep flat on my back anytime during the week before my period, I will get backaches and spot red. Does anyone else do this? It turns black and diminishes away after I get up and move around.

    I don't have any specific advice because I haven't yet been on progesterone but wanted to say hello and I'm sorry for your losses.

    09/2014-Clomid 100mg + trigger + IUI + 2nd trigger= BFN
    10/2014-benched due to RE out of town, tying naturally!
    11/2014-benched due to cyst
    12/2014-Femara 5mg + stair step with additional 5 days Femara 5mg + trigger + IUI=BFN
    01/2015-Femara 5mg + Gonal F 25 units + trigger (plus additional Gonal F 100 units on trigger night) + IUI= BFP!!! Twins due 10/2015
    09/28/2015- Surprise!  Conrad and Hudson born at 35w6d!

    Married: 12/15/2012    TTC: 08/2014
    Husband: 26 SA: normal
    Me: 23 Low AMH and damaged ovaries due to chemotherapy.
    No AF or O in 3 years. HSG showed a slight T shaped uterus.

    High Risk OB 9/29- got the ok to get pregnant.
    RE Appt:  10/28/ U/S showed follicles, but also small damaged ovaries.
    B/W results CD0: all normal except low AMH at 1.3
    Cycle 1-November (TI)- Femera 2.5mg, 2mg Estradoil, and Trigger=BFN
    Cycle 2-December (TI)- Femera 2.5 mg ,4mg Estradoil, and Trigger= No O
    Cycle 3-January (TI)- Femera 5 mg, 2mg Estra    doil, and Trigger=

    Welcome, and I'm very sorry for your losses.  I have been taking Endometrin (vaginal progesterone suppositories) and have never had the symptoms you described.  I would definitely ask your RE what they think about your side effects.

    Welcome! So sorry you find yourself here, though.

    If you have spotting for a week before your period, that indicates a weak luteal phase, so definitely let your doctor know - although you're on progesterone, maybe the oral progesterone is just not quite cutting it and they might want to try shots. As far as spotting changing from red/black based on your body position, that's probably due to the position of your ute and cervix - when it's black, that just means it hung around longer on its way out. By the way, I had that same issue and it turned out I had a stenotic cervix that needed to be dilated, as it was adding cervical factor infertility to our list of issues, and even caused endo because menstrual blood ended up making its way out the tubes.

    Are you seeing an RE? Having a child 23 years ago unfortunately doesn't say anything about your current situation. An HSG, bloodwork to determine ovarian reserve, and SA and bloodwork for YH, if you haven't had them yet, are definitely in order.

    Thank u so much for the advice! U r the first person to explain some of my issues. I told my doc about it, but he didn't seem concerned (after ultrasound to ck ovaries and uterus). I know my uterus is tilted towards my back, but he didn't seem to think that would cause any issues. He used to be a fertility specialist, so I thought he would know best.
