Christmas card

We're using a family pic from a few weeks ago for xmas cards. I have a semi-noticeable bump (but without knowing might just look like I ate too many cheeseburgers.) What's the etiquette on mentioning an unborn baby? If you mention it, what's the wording you use?

Bonus question: anyone know any great deals on photo Christmas cards this year?

Re: Christmas card

  • I'm interested in the wording on mentioning the new baby too.

I was thinking of putting something on the back of the card so it's not like the front and center Christmas greeting.

    Shutterfly always has great sales.

  • Last year my cousin and his wife were expecting their second baby and put something on the back about welcoming a baby girl in May. It was very tasteful.
  • Not sure about the wording, I've never been good at sending out Christmas cards even though I love the idea of it BUT..!! I have also heard shutterfly has great deals and if you register at babies are us they give you a $25 gift card to shutterfly aaaand 10 weeks before your due date everything left on your registry is 10% off even if you're the one purchasing the items, clothes, diapers, wipes included. So even if you're not planning to have a big registry it sounds like a good deal even to just put a couple things so you can get some good deals! Sorry for the kind of off topic post but I thought it was cool about the shutterfly gift card and discounts.
  • Groupon has a Christmas card offer right now...I have no advice on wording and such, just letting people know, PSA.
  • Shutterfly has great sales and have used them for other cards, but last year I ended up making our Christmas cards online and printed through walmart. They came out very nice and they had a surprisingly large selection.

  • I like Tinyprints for Christmas cards. They always have different promos going on, if you check the website regularly you can get a good deal.

  • I always use shutterfly or snapfish, they have crazy good deals around the holidays and I never pay more than $20. I pick the designs where you can use multiple photos and I'll probably include some photo with my bump.

You can say "Happy holidays/merry Christmas from Me, SO, and baby __" if you wanna just be simple.
  • I think I am going to sign the card DH, me, DS and baby (due March 2015) last name.

In the past I have used Sam's club or Costco for our holiday cards. If you are a member they have some of the best prices I have seen especially if you need a lot of cards.

  • We'll do something like "Merry Christmas from DH, me, DD, DS, and Baby [our last name] joining us in March 2015."

  • @FrecklesInside‌, thanks for the Groupon tip! That's a great deal and the cards look nice. Thanks everyone else for wording advice. We didn't do a Christmas card when I was pregnant with DD because we didn't have a cute kid to show off yet! Referring to "Baby last name" seems like the way to go.

  • Shutterfly currently has holiday cards on sale. I've always been happy with their products.

Sorry no advice about how to mention LO but good question and thanks to everyone who has had suggestions.
  • I have massive shutterfly coupons because I got them from babies r us and every single time I get a package from destination maternity. If you want one (or a few) I would be happy to mail one out tomorrow.
  • When I was pregnant with DD, we signed her name to the Christmas card along with the rest of ours. Not sure it's the "proper" way to do it or anything, but it worked for us and our friends/family seemed to think it was cute.

  • I have always used CVS for making my Christmas cards. I like how they can print out a proof for you so you can approve it in person before paying for them all!

  • I've seen:

"From our growing family to yours..." Maybe cradle your baby bump so it's more obvious in the photo if you dont directly mention the baby.

"Love, Him, Her, and Baby Lastname*
    *Baby Lastname due March 2014"

  • I think baby (last name) sounds best on the card. I always love shutterfly & their coupons.
  • I also think signing the card "Him, her, and Baby Lastname (March 2014!)" seems good. I wanted to do this when I was pregnant with DD, but DH was opposed to putting it directly on the card. I still don't totally get why.

I like Tiny Prints or Minted for Christmas cards. They are a bit more expensive than Shutterfly, but I like the designs more and I think the quality is much nicer.
  • I just got 50% off prints at walgreens and they have a cute selection for holiday cards.
