Tips for Temporarily sharing bedroom with 8 month old (house renovating)

We're renovating our house and my hubby and I are in a tricky situation where we have to share a room with our baby boy. BUT our son used to sleep through the night like a champ (10-12hrs) til we had to move him to our room. Now he wakes up 2-3x (occasionally 4x) a night because it's like he knows we're in there (probably does). and I'm exhausted (poor hubby is too). We both have early mornings and just need sleep! I get up when he cries and nurse him so he will go back to sleep but I don't want to keep doing that because I think that it's made a nasty habit:-( wish we could put him in another room but with the house being redone we can't for another two ish months...

Help?! Does anyone have any suggestions? Have tried letting him CIO but honestly hubby and I lose more sleep doing that instead of me just quickly nursing him...

  • What about a room divider so he can't see you and a white noise machine so he can't hear you?

  • White noise machine. Have LO sleep as far away from you as possible. Babies can smell their mama/milk.

Is it possible LO is going through a growth spurt or teething and that's why he is nursing a lot a night? My LO turns 8 months today and the past several nights she has been nursing 3 times when normally it's only once.
  • Thanks all! We do actually use a white noise machine and I will look into a divider great idea. I think those things are certainly possible! He was teething last week and I thought the storm had passed but I'm starting to wonder if it has not as he's drooling like crazy and has a rash on his face again...poor guy! He is my first baby so sometimes it takes me a little while to figure out what exactly is going on with him. In my defense though things are normal during the day, this just occurs at night so that's why I sort of dismissed teething at first...
