Recaro Convertible Car seats

Does anyone have a Recaro car seat?? I have read the reviews, but I was wondering if anyone had one?? Do you love it or do you hate it??

Re: Recaro Convertible Car seats

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE

they are bulky, which is the only drawback. The base is pretty big, which is actually quite cute, DD1 could see easily out the window while rear facing, and would always wave to people at stop lights. They're also heavy (because of the metal frame, so I consider this a plus), but I have no problem installing/moving them around- I move DH's out of his commuter car & into the SUV every Friday, and back every Sunday.

DH parked next to a cop last weekend picking up our pizza and the officer commented that it was a great seat.

  • We love ours also. We currently have 3 of them. One in each vehicle for DS1 and one when we are ready to move DS2 into a convertible. DS1 is in the 98th percentile for height and weighs 33 lbs. We just put hin forward facing about 2 weeks ago so it works well for tall children.

    I highly recommend it

  • Thank y'all!! This is the seat we are leaving towards just wasn't for sure about the size and height of it by mixed reviews. Also ever since joining a group called car seats for littles they rag on this seat, so then I started second guessing it!
  • Thanks for this thread! Was looking at this one too

When I was researching for DS1 they kept saying there was very little leg room and not well made for taller children.

  • ^^ weird. My 3yo is 95th percentile and is fine in there. Was fine rear facing right up to her 2nd birthday.

  • ^^ same with my two year old. He's 98th percentile for height and seemed very comfortable 3 weels ago when he was still rear facing (we flipped because I think he was getting motion sickness).

    Why?
Because it is outgrown on rear facing too fast!! But they also recommend you leave your child rear facing till 4 or longer
  • We are going to go to BBB and trying it out and if it fits in my car that is what we are going with.. I was just getting so many mixed reviews, oh size and everything, and car seat for littles was making me second guess myself!!
  • This sounds promising.

4 yrs/40 lbs is the minimum for a booster, so in theory then you could go from rear facing to a booster- that seems crazy. Recaro'so max rear facing is 40lbs. Front facing is 65. I'm not at all concerned about her outgrowing that.

I know it's crazy my chunk is already 20 pounds and he is only 6 months. I know they slow down and all, but I also know he is way way to nosey and I highly doubt we will make it past 2 rear facing and with the recaro I feel safe forward facing him at 2 anyways.

  • Amazing review there!!! I decided I'm getting this seat. Amazon has the cheapest price so far that I have found for it.. even with discounts at other stores. Anyone find it cheaper than $209?
  • no, that is the cheapest I have been able to find it and i have looked everywhere :)

  • Nope Amazon is the cheapest!! Sometimes they will have some a little cheaper and it's called an open box where people have returned them.
  • Every once in a while they have sales. DH set up an alert and we'll buy on the next promotion.

  • Anyone have any issues with not enough room for driver or passenger? (whatever side you have it). We have a CR-V and Toyota Matrix and an 8yo so we can't put Liam in the center.
