Pelvic pressure in late pregnancy

For those of you in late pregnancy experiences severe back pain/pelvic pressure, how long does it hurt for? Couple hours? When does it go away for you? And do you have any tricks to relieve the pain?

Re: Pelvic pressure in late pregnancy

  • Any pain that's "severe," I'd call my doc. I've used a heating pad on my back when it's hurt mildly from just daily activity.

Again, though, if you're describing pain as "severe," call OB.

  • I had SEVERE pelvic pain for about 4 weeks.  (I'm 33 weeks now.)  It finally stopped about a week and a half ago. It was just the way my baby was sitting in my belly.  It literally felt like my tail bone was broken.  I would just have have to shift the way I sat, sit on my leg etc.. and it would be tolerable.  I also did a lot of stretching and tailor sitting.... I'm not sure if this helped it go away or not, but it's gone now!!  :-)

(Obviously checking with your doctor is always good.  My little man just likes to sit low!)
  • I take warm baths every day due to pressure and feeling like I've been kicked in my vagina. Usually the more active I am the more I feel it. The baths at night though make me feel better.

  • Prenatal yoga helps me a lot.  I do a lot of downward dog to try to get him to shift up a little.  No idea why he wants to sit so low!

  • i get smart stabbing pains in the hip and pelvis when I'm standing a lot or trying to balance on one side. it has not gone away at all during the 3rd trip (now 40 weeks). only relief has been chiropractor. BUT my friends tell me it'll all go away magically once baby is here!
