Dang it, I didn't get an ultrasound, pap smear, nothing for my OB appointment today (14wks). Actually, we did get to hear the baby on the doppler, but I do that at home every couple of days. I guess everyone has different coverage for u/s, but I was kinda bummed. Am I out of the norm in only being covered for 3 u/s in a pregnancy, or does it just seem like everyone else gets them every time?

Oh well, the HB sounded great, so it was still a good appointment. I just feel bad getting all excited and having DH miss work for a 2 minute chat.

Yup! Welcome to just regular OB appts! I was surprised the first time too! With the practice I go to, they only do n/t, a/s and then growth u/s starring at 30w. Have you done the n/t yet?

I got an u/s when I first went for my 10w appointment. She said they bypass the NT scan when I choose to do the MaterniT21 test. I'll get another u/s at 18 weeks for anatomy scan, and one last one at around 34 weeks. I get jealous of a few FB acquaintances I have who post an u/s pic every 4 weeks after their appointments.

Yep, I stopped asking DH to come to my OB appointments because they're pretty uneventful with my OB I had an NT scan at 12 weeks, a/s at 20 weeks and I may get a growth scan in a few weeks but with my practice they don't guarentee a third trimester scan :-S

Unless you have a complication or something they are watching, then it's normal to just have the NT, Anatomy Scan and a growth ultrasound(s) in third trimester. I only bring DH to the ultrasound appointments since the others are so routine and pretty boring

I'm not having any either. Kinda sucks just because I want to see but it makes me kinda feel better because all my other pregnancies I had weekly us because I had issues and eventually miscarried. My Dr is finally treating me like a normal preg person, it's bittersweet.

Bummer, but YAY! for a boring, normal pregnancy!! ( I've been praying for boring for myself and no ER/Triage visits.)

& now I understand why people buy those 3D & 4D Ultrasound packages. & a doppler!

That stinks, I would be disappointed also! I was surprised that usually they don't do u/s after a certain time unless they need to. I get one every time because I'm having twins so they monitor their growth each visit and check my cervix. I'm still dreading having to shave my legs for tm :-(

I treated myself to a last minute pedi tonight and said oops! I should've shaved my legs. Oh well.
Yeah, nothing too exciting at regular OB appts. My OB wanted to start seeing me at 6 weeks, before I was released from RE, due to my loss history. He did an u/s every 2 weeks until my NT scan at 12 weeks. But mine still does that in conjunction with the Maternit21 test to get measurements. The a/s scan was my last u/s. I won't have any more unless there's any concerns.

I know a lot of people that only get 3 u/s during their journey. My cousin gets one every single appt!!!! Her insurance pays for it. And I'm just shoot you had a great appt with no reasons for concerns. I though about DH wouldn't need to come to every appt with me but my mom brought up a good point. Our DH's bond with the baby when they hear the heart beat and listen to the dr. It makes them feel like they are actually a part of the process. I gave my H the option and he wants to go to everything. So I wouldn't feel too guilty about making him miss work.

My OB only does a NT and anatomy scan.. I had to bypass the Nt cause I did the Maternity21 test too.. I have not seen my sweet girl since 18 weeks! And I'm currently 38. Ugh... She needs to come soon just so I can see her!!

Yeah, I don't know how the heck one goes the second half of the pregnancy with no ultrasounds, but it seems pretty typical. I guess feeling movement will help. I have the A/S in two weeks, then a follow up with my doc, and I'll be asking then if they do any other scans. I've heard that the "vanity scans" aren't recommended because the machines may not be safely calibrated, but I can understand why people do them!

There's no need to shave anymore, anyway, as the scans are all on the belly. And because Winter is Coming.

I only get "medically necessary ultrasounds" which usually is only 2-3: 1 to confirm it's in the uterus at 12 weeks, 1 for anatomy scan at 20 weeks, and perhaps 1 more for a growth scan if the fundal height or weight aren't textbook in mid-30s weeks.

However, early ultrasounds were covered as part of infertility care, and my OB has a portable machine they don't bill insurance for, and I had a ton of Braxton Hicks one week so I ended up with a cervical check ultrasound to be sure around 22 weeks.

So I have been lucky enough to have had 6 ultrasounds so far - 2 billed from RE, 2 billed from OB, and 2 not billed via the portable machine - and I am hoping they'll play with the portable machine again at my apt on Thursday!

I will probably get one more official billed u/s as a growth scan in a few weeks.

We only had a dating u/s at our first OB apt (10w) and the a/s since we did not do the NT. So any u/s with the RE were "extra". It's pretty normal to only have 2 u/s with the OB. I had a lot more with DS but that was because I had a LEEP and they were checking my cervical length.

Ya pretty standard. It kinda sucks cuz it is great to see baby more. With DD I ended up with more cuz I was measuring like 5 weeks ahead of where I should be at 35 weeks. But unless they suspect a problem they usually don't do more.

I only made it to 10.5 weeks in my last pregnancy.. but probably had at least 8-10 ultrasounds due to the rarity of the pregnancy. Here I am almost 11 weeks and I've only had 3, and I had to request #2 with my RE.

My first OB appointment is next week, and she asked me if I wanted to be scheduled for an ultrasound - If given the option, yes! But I have a feeling they are going to be slowing down after that, which will seem really weird.
