Cell phone bill question

I will be renegotiating my compensation package through my work at the end of the month.  One of my requests is that they reimburse my cell phone bill (I WFH and my cell phone is my work phone).  Since DH and I are on a family plan and share a minutes and text package I'm not exactly sure how to figure out what my portion of the bill is.  Any thoughts on how the correct way to figure this is?

Re: Cell phone bill question

  • My company pays for the data plan on my phone up to $50 a month. That is their stipulations, not mine. They take taxes out of the reimbursement so I only see $26.16 a month.

  • 50% of the total bill is probably the easiest.  I WFH and my company already reimburses me for various monthly expenses so it wouldn't be a problem to add this on to my reimbursement sheet.  Thanks!

  • When my husband's company paid for his cell phone, they paid virtually all of it minus the amount of adding a second line, which was like $15 (with tax).  Adding a second line to a cell phone plan is cheap, so I would ask for the amount you would have to pay if you had the cell phone plan without your husband, which is probably about 90% of the bill.

You may also consider removing the cost of the data plan if you are only using the telephone part for work.
