Babies Growing Up

In general, I am in no rush for Isla to grow up. She is at such a fun, cute age right now, and I realize how quickly it all goes by (7 months already?!?). And if I didn't realize, everyone is quick to tell me. Plus Joe is already horrified about her dating someone.

However, holidays and events (like tonight) make me excited for her to be a bit older. I can't wait until she's looking forward to trick or treat or excited about Christmas morning. I've always pictured watching fireworks with my kids on the 4th or letting them stay up later on NYE.

I feel like as I got older a lot of holidays lost their charm. Is anyone else thinking holidays will be more fun in the next few years?

    When they learn to rip the paper off gifts is fun.
    Then when they realize the gift is more fun than the paper it was wrapped - Pretty cool too.

    When they get to the 'demanding' a specific gift - not so much fun.

    I like the age when they want to dress up, but I couldn't care less about trick or treating.

    Yes, I still love Christmas but it has of course lost some of its magic.  I've always been excited to have kids so Christmas can be magical again through their eyes. 

    I'm excited for her first birthday, but I am trying really hard to not wish time away, it goes fast enough on its own.  I can't believe she's 7 months already.

BFP #3 7/4/13 8DPO EDD 3/22/14, DX Gestational Diabetes @14 wks. started insulin @16 wks.  Our rainbow, born 3/19/14 @ 39wks 6d., we're so in love!

    I know exactly what you mean! I'm already excited for the Christmas morning when she's going to get a puppy! It's 3 years at least down the road, but I just can't even imagine how excited she'll be!

    This age is so fun. I'm wishing I could slow time down. I do love the kid centric holiday stuff, though.

    I wish I could slow down time... I can't wait to do those things with her and see her excitement
    but I know it's going to go way too fast then she will be a teenager who didn't get the coolest cellphone for Xmas lol.

    DD just turned 3 last month and she was SO excited about her birthday and party.  It was awesome!  It was very special... I'm definitely looking forward to her excitement growing as she "gets" holidays more and more.

    I'm loving the stage he's in right now where he is curious about everything. I'm looking forward to watching that blossom over the next few years.

    I'm thrilled to be able to go through the holidays with a little one again, ages 3-8 seem especially wonderful!  Of course next year we get the incredible awful/hilarious picture of toddler screaming in Santa's lap... can't wait
