Is it too soon? I like to get a jump on my Christmas shopping so I don't have a huge expense come December. I've gotten a few gifts and have some ideas for others, but still drawing a blank for some people.
What are you hoping to receive for Christmas?
What are you getting for your H?
What are you getting for in-laws/parents and siblings?
And bonus question: What are you doing for LO this year? Skip it til they're older? Something small? Going crazy overboard?
Re: Too early to talk Christmas presents?
I'll start with DD. She is easy. I've already gotten her a Little People play set and car, a book, a bath towel, a DVD, a doll and stuffy for her room theme, and some hair bows. So she's done unless I see something else I need to buy her lol
So far all that I've got for DH is a book that he wants. I'm not sure what else to get him but I'm looking in to some possible concert tickets because he really likes that.
I've already made and ordered photobooks for our parents and grandparents. And I will most likely be completing their gifts by going in on some expensive things with my brothers (tablet for mom and treadmill for dad).
I have no clue what I'm getting my brothers.
As for me, I love getting gift cards because I love to shop and that way I don't go broke lol but I also have a list of some books and some things for the house that I would like to get.
For H: we typically don't do much for a Christmas gift as fill stockings for each other. It's a tradition we started when we moved in together. I love buying stocking items as a lot of them are needed items. My family has always done then but his hasn't. I usually out useful items such as new socks, toothbrush etc plus some fun things like jelly bellys and new headphones.
Parents/in laws: we do an exchange on his side. I already have decided of I get my MIL's name I'm getting her the waffle maker she's been wanting. FIL is a hard one so I'm not worrying about it unless I get his name. For my dad dad we usually get him some new golf shirts, and the current Ripleys believe it or not book. He loves them! My mom usually gets scarves, cookbooks (she's obsessed), and this year I plan to get her a heated blanket.
My LO: I'm doing a Christmas Eve box with new pjs, christmas movie and a couple books. I hope to do this every year as as he gets older start to add hot chocolate packages, popcorn etc. I got the idea off of Pinterest. I'm going to make a teepee for him to play in. I have seen some on etsy that are really neat but can cost up to $200. I found a tutorial which all you need is
The fabric and PVC pipes. I purchased the fabric already so it now just need to get crafty one day. I've also been starting to buy older clothes as it's something he will need. He will receive enough toys from family and friends I am sure so I'm not planning on buying any.
For me: I don't need or want anything really. My parents bought DH and I a new computer. Thank goodness because my 10+ year old Mac is on it's last leg.
For DH: We're giving each other another baby for Christmas. Neither of us need anything so we'll just put it towards the kids.
Parents/ILs: FIL wanted a recliner so we all pitched in for that already. MIL I bought a nice purse she was eyeing up on vacation in July. (I love getting presents months in advance) My parents I haven't decided yet.
Our LOs: I got him a few little toys but he really doesn't need anything either. We're going to put money into his college fund. Next year we'll do more gifts when he's more into Christmas. DD: We'll probably just start up her college fund. She'll only be a few weeks old and my parents went a little overboard for her.
SIL/BIL: We decided not to buy for each other and just do the kids. Again, none of us really need anything and to buy little gifts just seems silly when we can buy more for the kids.
My Niece: My brother and SIL have recently really got into camping with their friends so I bought our niece a new sleeping bag and some other fun camping stuff.
My Brother/SIL: They plan on going on a cruise in the spring (they go every year) so we're just getting them a gift card they can but towards the expense or spend while on the ship. I sooo wish we were going. Very jealous!!
(
But overall, I'm happy and relieved to say I am almost done with shopping. I'd love to have everything wrapped before DD shows up. We'll see if that happens!
Here is what I have so far:
DS: candy land, leap pad and old school knects plus a bunch of odds and ends for the stocking. I still need to get an outfit and a book.
DD: Little people farm set, ride on toy. Still need to get a few more items including a book
DH: two sweaters. Will also get a few other little items
My parents: photo blanket from the kids. still need items from DH and I
DH's parents: photo blanket from the kids. Dream catcher from us for MIL; two antique Nabisco wooden boxes for FIL (he used to work at Nabisco)
SIL: set of metal elephants, still need something small from the kids still
SIL - Nothing yet will probably do some sort of jewelry and fun PJs
Brother - Navy thermal and Penn State sweatshirt. Will also probably get a book
Nephew #1 - toy
Nephew #2 - frozen art supplies, socks, and some trinkets.
We do homemade crafts for the extended family (one per family) and I need to get some books or little things for my cousins kids.
I am hoping for pampering things for me - gift certificates for massage, pedicure, etc.
I don't know what I will buy DH yet.
LO - My DH and I are each going to get her 1 stocking gift without telling each other what it is. It will be fun to see what he picks out
I think I am going to get my niece (5 yo) and nephew (2 1/2 yo) a sensory bin. I will include InstaSnow, a bag of play-doh, a funnel, scoops and other toys for it.
