Cloth Diapering

Selling diapers online

This is my first time posting but I would love some advice. I'm trying to sell diapers through a popular online cloth diaper selling website. Someone is offering to buy my lot of 6 diapers. Can someone explain how this works? How do I protect myself with PayPal? My husband has an account that I'll use. What's the cheapest way to ship? I just want to make sure I fully understand the process. Thanks

  • PayPal tends to side with buyers but there are things you can do to stay protected.

Take photos of everything! All the details and angles. Keep records of conversations. Keep receipts.

Sadly there is always one who will try to pull something. By saying they didn't receive it or the condition is not as described.

I've had 1 bad transaction out of many. But opened my eyes quite a bit. I'm pretty sure the girl damaged what I sent her so she could get a partial refund (better deal for her). But I didn't take enough photos to have proof.

Cheapest way to ship is a vacuum bag in an envelope. Or a ziploc and roll the air out. That's if you can fit the 6 diapers in.

  • I got screwed the very first time I used PayPal & ebay.
Never Again.  I'd give stuff away before I ever use ebay or paypal again.
  • I've sold stuff lots of times with no problems. Make sure you only ship to the address in PayPal and you get tracking. I have a kitchen scale so I print my own labels through PayPal. Usually diapers are cheapest first class or parcel post.

  • Yep, take screen shots of your conversation with the buyer. Make sure you have saved your photos and original post of the diapers.

Create an invoice through PayPal and send it to the email they give you. Never accept a "gift" or money transfer. You create the invoice, they pay through the invoice.

Then once they've been paid for, use PayPal to print a shipping label. Usually First Class in a poly mailer bag is cheapest (if it's under 13oz). For 6 diapers, you may want a flat rate box. I just use a basic kitchen scale to figure out package weight.

I think the majority of buyers and sellers are good people, but there are scammers, so you just have keep all your ducks in a row to be safe.
