Strange Pregnancy Phenomemon

Since this is my third, I am now quite sure I can attribute these to pregnancy as they have happened repeatedly. Some strange things that happen to me when pregnant:

  1. I lose my vocabulary. I speak. There is a word for what I'm trying to say. I used to know it. Can't remember it. (Luckily, this goes away, but SO annoying while pregnant).

  2. My FINGERS get skinner. Nothing else. I am average height/weight. I've gained on the higher side of average for all my pregnancies. My wedding ring starts falling off when I'm pregnant and ONLY when I'm pregnant.

  3. I drop things like crazy. I used to think it was a cruel thing to have to bend over and pick things up all the time while pregnant, but I later learned it was just practice for doing the same while holding a baby, because if I'm not dropping something, they are, or throwing it...

  4. I'm OBSESSED with chewing ice. I happen to know this is iron-deficiency related, but it's beyond a simple craving. Drives my husband nuts. Even driving my 5 year old nuts, apparently, but I CAN.NOT.STOP.

Spill it gals, what weird pregnancy things do you have going on...

  • I'm so damn forgetful. That's my biggest complaint along with pregnancy brain! ;)

  • I have been extremely forgetful. My team at school knows that if they don't write it down for me I won't remember. Also word recall has been difficult for me. I couldn't remember the name of laundry detergent so I called it "shampoo for clothes" haha
  • I'm with the forgetful group here! I teach yoga and my ability to remember Sanskrit words that I've been teaching for over a decade goes right out the window, my cueing sucks all of a sudden, and I just blend and make up words without even thinking about it!! It's terrible and embarrassing! I feel like such a dolt!
  • Chiming in with forgetfulness. I could not remember the word for soap the other day. I could only think lotion or shampoo!
My hunger goes from 0 to 60. I'll be fine one minute and the next I feel like I'm going to kill everyone around me if they don't get me food immediately. Needless to say I try to keep snacks around!!

I could not remember the word for "contacts", so I ended up calling them " eye things".

I have a friend from Eastern Europe who calls dishwashers "dishers" and washing machines "clothes dishers."
  • I'm so glad to hear you gals lose words, too. Just today, I was trying to remember my cousins's last name- his first name is Wayne.

I went through two other Wayne's we know, followed by WAYNE GRETZKY, but could NOT remember his last name. Mind boggling.

  • Haha I was in a meeting with my boss today and told her I was literally losing my mind. Luckily she is super supportive and said "don't say that! " I loved her at that moment for having my back!!!!!
  • When I was pregnant with my first, I could not remember my married name.
