Does anyone actually get time off to vote? My workplace is super flexible but it's in a different state from where we live/are registered so extra time in the middle of the day wouldn't help.
But our polls are open 6am-8pm, and we'll all walk over tonight after work. DD likes to help us push the buttons. It's a very underwhelming ballot over here:
- hugely lopsided Senate race with two crappy candidates
- elect three school board members from the three candidates listed
- elect two judges from the two candidates listed
I've never missed an election since I was old enough to vote so I'm going, but this one definitely had me thinking about staying home.
Happy voting!
Re: Voting thread!
My work encourages voting and allows (paid) time off to vote.
That being said, the lines were so short that I was able to vote, drop off at daycare, stop at Starbucks and not be late. The polling place is next to our house so before work is really my best option.

3/14 Surprise BFP 11/14 DD is here!
i know it's a first-world problem, but i'm irritated that i have to go after work since i get home late and don't have a lot of time in the evenings. mornings are hectic and it's way crowded if you go before work.
I have the flex to go whenever. DD is home with strep (confirmed last night at the ped). It is pouring rain here and we both got totally soaked in a flooded parking lot even with an umbrella.
The big race for me here is governor - women's rights are hanging in the balance.
I agree about filling in the little boxes with a pen. It reminds me of old scantron tests - ugh. I miss pulling the levers.
I didn't care for the touch screens Virginia has. Our precinct uses the pen and scantron. I like it much better. We put the ballot into the scanner and wait for the machine to tell us it was accepted. I like having the paper back-up as solid proof of voting tallies.
