Good thoughts please...bed rest until Thursday

I was evaluated all afternoon in L&D for high blood pressure. It wasn't scary high, but I had other lab work that was showing my kidneys weren't doing great. Dr finally decided to let me go home for the night and put me on strict bed rest until Thursday, when I will be re evaluated. If my kidney levels and blood pressure are the same or worse, they will deliver our baby girl Thursday or Friday. My husband is out of town on business until Friday evening, so somehow he would have to try to get a flight home. Dr said she will do everything in her power to help me make it until DH is home. But obviously my health and baby's health come before that.

I am only 36w5d. I really really really pray I can get at least another week. My due date is Nov 27th. Dr isn't concerned about the baby at all. She is concerned about my kidneys. I have support both in laws and parents are not too far away. Trying to keep positive thoughts.

Oh and I forgot to add that I really dislike my Dr right now. When she saw me she basically scolded me for "causing" myself high blood pressure, because I'm too anxious and not resting enough. I haven't been on restrictions at all, so I didn't know I needed to be taking it THAT easy.

I may be able to "cause" myself high blood pressure by worrying when she tells me I may have a baby this week while DH is out of the state, but how does she explain my kidney levels then??? What did I do to cause that? Sorry for the rant.

Don't worry about your doc, I'm sure she was just trying to stress that your stress can effect your bp and it came across insensitive. Just focus on you and your LO.

Also, your kidneys could be a cause of your bp, kidneys secrete a hormone (renin) that helps regulate bp. So mentally tell your doc to F* off it might make you smile & feel a tad better

Oh no, really sorry to hear that. Don't let your doc make you feel like it's your fault--doesn't she know that will just make it worse? Can your husband get an earlier flight home? If your doc writes a note he should be able to get the change fee waived and/or get the illness/bereavement discount if it's one of the major U.S. airlines (United, Delta, American, etc.).

Big hugs you you Mama >:D< I am pissed off at your doctor for saying those things to you, it is not your fault. Please don't belive this for even one second.

I just said a prayer for you and baby. Take it one day at a time. Try not to focus too far ahead or worst case scenarios. Enjoy this quiet time to yourself and DH will be home before you know it. Please let us know how the appointment goes.

I was in a very similar situation two weeks ago (I was 36w3d). Try to relax and just know that it isn't your fault!

I'm still pregnant 2 weeks later, so hoping you get the same. Even if you don't, your baby will be fine! You're almost to 37 weeks, which is good.

Completely agree with PP, our bodies can do crazy things during pregnancy we have no control over. Just do the best you can to take it easy and take advantage of all the help you can get until your DH gets back. Big hugs and FX for you.

One of my MW's did this to me 3 weeks ago. Bed rest helped. Baby is still baking

You did nothing wrong and don't let her stress you out. Bp goes up without reason sometimes. Take it easy for the next couple of days. Thinking of you!
