We were talking about this last week so thought I would leave this link here. Seems like a lot is changing and I had to ready this a couple of times before I understood everything.

Re: Canadian Moms - Tax Credits ect.

  • A lot of people seem confused about this. I keep seeing angry moms on this facebook local groups I am on. From what I understand (didn't read the article) it will benefit me because right now I only get the $100/month.

I also only get the $100/month (I get the other one, but not a lot because of the way my parents mess with my taxes) so I'm happy its going up to $160.

  • @megsw85 Yes income splitting will help you.

  • @Mrsveinotte‌ there is/was another credit that you get if you are below a certain income I believe... Or something like that. Everyone, no matter the income gets the $100 (soon to be $160) but you have to qualify for the other credit. We don't, so I can't say I've looked closely at it to really know the requirements

  • @Sympkin‌ I completely agree about the income splitting. We were discussing this the other day in the Saving check-in. Its great for us, but it is bad policy. I am so sure that they could have created a better tax break that could affect more people who need it.
