Fever Seizue :(

Hi Ladies,
I normally don't post as I'm rather quiet to begin with, but tonight I have experienced something like nothing I ever want again. My DD will be 11months on the 14th. This evening she was happily playing in her high chair and became unresponsive. We took her to the living room and called 911. We learned she was having a siezure due to a sudden increase in temp. I'm still shaken up and wondering if any of you have been thru these and if they have reoccurred with other fevers?
Again sorry for taking so long to get involved.

  • No experience here, but I'm sorry that happened, I cannot imagine how scary that must have been! Hugs to you and your LO!

  • Hi op. I have worked as a daycare teacher for years and I have had to deal with two seperate incidents in my classroom. Both were extremely scary and I am so sorry you had to go through that with your own LO.
Both children that this happened to only ever had the one occurance, although the parents were told that there was a chance it could happen again with future fevers. I hope this was a one time thing for your LO.

  • Thanks ladies :)
We saw the Dr this morning and he verified everything tht you said. Scariest thing in my life by far and I've seen some things no one should see first hand, but when it's your own the irrational fears take over.

Thanks again for the words and advice it really helps
  • OMG that is so scary! I'm sorry that happened to you and your lo. I used to get seizures as an infant brought on by very high fevers (usually after getting vaccines so they actually used to break my vaccine doses in half which made it stop). It never happened after that or as I got older so hopefully it's an isolated incident.

  • We had had a second Dr appointment and did some blood work and checked her lungs out BC of a prolonged cough. We r using Tylonal and Motrin as per Dr and on an antibiotic. She seems to be doing better but this Stupid fever is a tough one:(
Thanks ladies for just being there ! :)
