So, 16w4d today. I feel huge. I've totally popped with the twins. At my OB appointment last week, dr said that my uterus was already about 4"-5" above my belly button. This time around, since there are two in there, my "B" belly is much more rounded and I'm more confident in wearing the side rushed shirts I'm happy to report that I've had a LOT of relief from my nausea, although it seems to have been replaced with headaches and back aches, so I'm trying to drink more water and put my feet up when I can. Next appointment is 11/20, but I'll be on a cruise next week - yay! Can't wait.
Cute moment of the week, our 3yo son was SO excited about Halloween. He was Jake (Neverland Pirates) and DH dressed as a pirate as well. When we were all ready to head out, I just had on a black shirt and capris (we live in FL) and I threw on a skull scarf and a witch hat. DS exclaimed "Dat's right Mommy. You can't be a pirate wiff that big belly!" haha!
QOTW: I love Thanksgiving and Christmas, for different reasons. I get REALLY irritated at this point because when you go to the stores, they're already not only pushing the Christmas merchandise, but they are also PLAYING CHRISTMAS MUSIC! #annoying.
This Thanksgiving I'm afraid I'll be a little disappointed because I won't be able to have my favorite stuffing... I prefer my mom's recipe, which we stuff into the bird. Ah well, it is only one year. But, I LOVE LOVE LOVE all of the pumpkin and spice recipes... I made pumpkin bread last weekend. SO yummy!
I'm starting to think about Christmas in terms of finishing off some hand crafted gifts (some rag quilts and crocheted scarves for family members). I always look forward to decorating for Christmas, which we typically do the weekend after TG. Again this year, we'll be decorating our tree with the crocheted ornaments I've made since they are small child friendly. I imagine we'll continue that little tradition for the next few years until all of our children are older. I"m also looking forward to baking cookies! Maybe not as many as last year, but DS LOVES to be Mommy's cookie helper (i.e. official batter eater, frosting sampler and sprinkle bandit)
Married September 2005 - TEAM PINK x2 this time around
Had some spotting over the weekend. It went away as quick as it came, and there were no other symptoms, but of course I was on high alert until I got a hold of my Dr. yesterday. They had me come right in and found the HB on the doppler within seconds. For bonus peace of mind they also let me have an ultra sound (they were also looking for a bleed source, but I think a lot of it was hair petting) Everything looks amazing and is measuring right on track. I was so thankful that they were so accommodating and able to see me so quickly.
I love Thanksgiving, and all of the family being together but Channukah is my favorite holiday. Not for the presents, but because it's the holiday that hubby and I get to host! We LOVE entertaining and cooking and making our home inviting, but my family is so large that lots of aunts and uncles have called 'dibs' on all of the major holidays, so we usually only get to bring a side dish or dessert. On Channukah we get to make the whole meal, and we love it! We spend weeks before hand finalizing the menu and practicing dishes. Our most successful Channukah supper yet was when we roasted a whole leg of lamb and served it with traditional middle eastern side dishes... home made hummus and baba ganoush and cous cous and Israeli salad. I think this year we're going for a standing rib roast and classic 'Merican fixins! Can't wait!
GrailSeeker14 I hate to hear about your rough week! I had high blood pressure at the end of my previous pregnancy. If I stayed pretty inactive and rested frequently, it stayed within normal range. As soon as I did much of anything it would spike back up. Maybe its your body telling you to slow down?
As for me, we had our anatomy scan yesterday. It was so cool to see that little person! For some reason I've been really detached this pregnancy. I guess since my twin pregnancy was so exhausting and this one has been SO easy, I feel like it isn't real. Also, between having two 2 year olds and an almost full time job I don't have very much time for anything else. Anyways, my husband was unable to go to the appointment so my mom came with. She'd never seen an ultrasound like that so it was really cool for her.
As far as symptoms, I have almost none. This last weekend I spent cleaning the house top to bottom and even mowing the yard (while caring for my twins). I felt like I had plenty of energy for it but my body was screaming at me by Sunday night. I could hardly sit in a recliner I was so uncomfortable. I guess it is time for me to slow down a little.
QOTW: I haven't been a huge holiday lover until the last couple of years. I think the fact that we can now create our own traditions with our little family has really brought a new love for all the holidays! It is so much fun to see the excitement in little kids!
@grailseeker14 Im sorry you had a rough week, i hope things are much better from here on out. Thank you for still taking the time to check in on us.
What's new with everyone this week? My DH left for a business trip, so my and my DD's have been in survial mode, which they are really enjoying. Take outs have been our thing this week. My DH is such a huge help, I'm really missing him. Symptoms to report? AAARRRGGHHH!!!!! My MS will not go away, still lingering, and now its brought its friends with it, Heartburn and Headache's. Where is my 2nd tri glow?
Scans? No scans till next week, to check my placenta previa. Appointments? No app till next week after my scan. Cute/sweet moment of the week? My 11 year old DD is being very snugly, she is always wanting hugs, and snuggles into anytime i sit down. So last night i said "you are being such a little cuddlier recently" She replied "I getting it all in now, as you will be snuggling with DS soon" So i explained, no matter what, we can always snuggle anytime, she is always my baby even when she has babies.
:x :x
Wishing everyone a wonderful week, happy scans and appointments
Hey everyone! Nice to check in. We had our anatomy scan today (at 17w). It was early - I think the secretary did some bad math at the last appt- but we are officially joining team Blue!! I will be honest that I was a little disappointed but I'm happy he is healthy and I hope he comes out looking just like my husband as a baby because he was amazingly cute! I have my follow-up with my RE on Monday, and then my next OB appt is the 19th or something like that. My favorite holiday is X-mas. My family always gets together and does a huge dinner an presents thing and I love all the Christmas music. I can't wait!
@GrailSeeker14 I'm sorry about the BP scares; I hope everything ends up okay! It's so cute how your H was so excited to find the heartbeat!
@yarnymommyGlad some of your MS has subsided! Hope you have a great time on your cruise!
@baby_blessingsI hope everything goes well at your A/S! It will be exciting to know if it's a boy or girl! I'm surprised your doctor would guess before then!
@fro88I'm sorry you had a spotting scare; I'm glad it stopped! Happy you got to have an ultrasound to help check on everything and calm your nerves!
@Lyndsey13 Glad everything looked good at your A/S! It was nice of you to have your mom go along with you!
@taahira I'm sorry you are still having MS and have new symptoms too! I'm right with you unfortunately.
Hi Ladies! Everything's been going well for me this week. I feel like my bump is really there now (I'm 15w4d) and I love it! I'm wearing maternity clothes out and on the weekends and I feel like they are so much more flattering! I've also thought on a couple of occasions that I could feel the baby moving, but I'm not really sure so I hope it becomes more noticeable soon. I'm also planning on telling my students on Friday so I hope they are excited for me. It will be interesting; I'm not really sure how I expect them to react!
Symptoms to report? Unfortunately, yes! ( I thought my MS was going away but it is still there in the mornings. Also, I've been getting headaches. Last night I went to bed at 8 and before that was just laying on the couch not doing anything. I hope I get some of this second trimester loveliness soon!
Appointments? I have my 16w OB appointment on Thursday! I'm very much looking forward to hearing the heartbeat again. Also, as some of you may remember I've been very nervous about everything going well so we decided to have an elective ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby! We're hoping it will help me relax and really enjoy the pregnancy since I can shop for the baby more easily after. It is this weekend and we are soo excited! I will be happy either way for different reasons. We also have a boy name that we've loved for a few years so if it's a boy I would love to get to use the name!
Cute/sweet moment of the week? Well, ever since I was pregnant my one cat has been snuggling with me in bed every night. On the weekend we closed the cats out of our room because they were meowing at 6 am! The one was scratching at the door so my H let him back in and he ran in, jumped on the bed, and put his arms stretched out on my stomach like he was guarding the baby. It was so cute!
QOTW: Now that we’re in to holiday season, what is your favorite fall/winter holiday? What are your favorite traditions or memories of this holiday?
I love Thanksgiving because it is just about getting together and it's very easy for me. My MIL insists on doing everything for it so we just have to show up, eat, and have a nice time! It's very relaxing so I like that a lot. However, I love Christmas the most! I enjoy shopping for everyone's gifts and seeing them open them. One tradition my H introduced to me that his family always did was open a gift on Christmas Eve. We've done it since we've lived together and I really enjoy it! I'm hoping to plan lots of fun things to do this year so that we can really enjoy the holidays now that we will be expanding our family!

Not too much to update for this week. I've been feeling real kicks that can be felt from the outside! So that has been super exciting, and helped to lessen my anxiety a little bit.
On the less exciting front, I've still been having horrible migraines that last for several days. I've never had headaches like this in my life. I had no idea before this that it was even a symptom of pregnancy.
QOTW: I've always loved Thanksgiving, but have struggled with it more since being with my husband (we've only been married for a year). We have a permanent agreement to spend Thanksgiving with his family and Christmas with mine, and it just doesn't feel the same. It doesn't help that his family is Persian and cooks mostly Persian food plus a few strange adaptations of some American dishes. I've tried bringing some pies and a turkey fryer with us (fried turkey is my fave), but it's still not the same. I miss my spiced cranberries and creamed corn! So this year I think we may do a traditional Thanksgiving just the two of us one weekend before or after the actual holiday so that we can make all of my favorites AND have leftovers (the best part!)
Hey ladies!! Sorry I went MIA last week. Had a busy week and didn't make it on the bump at all!!
We had our elective u/s today and we are officially team BLUE!! I felt like DH was pretty disappointed when we first found out, and he did admit to it afterwards, but said it was a brief feeling and he's good now! I can admit I felt the same, but I'm embracing it! We went to babies r us on the way home and each of us picked out an outfit for our baby boy and browsed around a little ). My whole family and a lot of my friends think girl, so it'll be a fun surprise at our reveal party next weekend!!
QOTW:
I have always LOVED thanksgiving. Since I've been with DH I've spent a few Thanksgivings either at home or with my family but without DH. This year will be the same . I'm not happy about it, but have to see it his way sometimes too I guess. He's nowhere near as much of a family person as I am, and I think sometimes he doesn't understand my need to be there so much (my family is 3 hours away, so it's a bit of a trip and we always have to hire a pup sitter to go). I do love Christmas too, although it is very hectic seeing both families in one day!! I think I will look forward to staying at home and letting family come to us once our family grows.

I feel like I might feel a little movement lately! It helps ease my mind that baby is doing ok. Still anxiously awaiting our AS on 11/24. We will get our sex results this time around so as long as baby is healthy I feel like it will be a really fun appointment. We were thinking of bringing DD to this appointment. Has anyone else done this? I just worry that if something is wrong she will see our reactions and get scared
QOTW: I love Thanksgiving and Chtistmas. I love a good opportunity to eat the heck out of some turkey and mashed potatoes! We go to my DH's family for Christmas nearly every year but are staying home this year. We were just there last weekend and Christmas seems too quick to turn back around and make the cross country trip. I feel a little guilt about it since DD loves times with her grandparents but they will be visiting us in January for her Birthday.
@Grailseeker14 - It does sound like white coat syndrome. Have you talked to your Drs about the BP readings you're getting at home? I hope this ends up being a non-issue for you!
@yarnymommy - Yay, have fun on your cruise! Come back and share a pic or two!
@baby_blessings - I know what you mean. I've both excited to have a bump but I'm worried there's more of it than there should be. I guess there's a wide range of what's good, but it's a little nerve-wracking!
@fro88 - Sorry for your spotting scare, and I'm glad all is well! What a treat to get an extra u/s!
@Lyndsey13 - Congrats on being through your A/S! I gather it was all good news?
@taahira - Good luck with the placenta previa check! And I hope your DH comes home soon--that's a lot to handle on your own at this point!
@jhesterm - Congrats on team blue and a healthy baby!
@catlover790 - Good luck telling your students! I hope they react excitedly for you. And I'm not sure if I should hope for a boy for you or not, but how exciting that you have a name picked out! Hope the scan goes well!
@Haley612 - Hope the migraines stop soon. ((hugs))
AFM, there's remarkably little to report. Itty bitty bump is a teeny bit bigger, my energy may be back a teeny bit, but I'm very busy with work and still need way more rest than is helpful for my list of goals. A/S is now less than two weeks away, and I'm very nervous and excited. Because of my age and history, I'm going to the MFM for a more detailed scan, so I know there's a good chance that at least one potentially concerning thing will be noted, even if it's a false positive. I also know it may not be a false positive, either, so I'm just keeping everything crossed that all is well. In the meantime buying the Doppler was the best decision ever. I don't know how I'd stay sane without it! I still think this is a boy, but OH says it's a girl. We shall see. :-/
QOTW: I love Thanksgiving, as it's not specific to a religion (I'm not religious) and it's all about yummy food, people you care about, and being grateful for what you have...as opposed to buying a lot of crap that no one really wants or needs (although the Black Friday thing creeps ever sooner). Unfortunately, my hubby hates it. He's an extremely picky vegan, and I think he just feels traumatized. He's frankly a pain in the ass about the food. He wants to eat burritos or something completely non-traditional, but I really enjoy the array of seasonings and ingredients (minus the turkey) that typify the meal and they would clash terribly if there were a plate of cilantro/lime flavored black bean burritos being passed around. This year we're hosting both sets of parents and my godparents (I wonder what they think about my heathenism?), and the whole meal is vegan (except for my grandmother's pumpkin pie recipe, which he wouldn't touch even if it were vegan). He may or may not be satisfied with this, as he refuses to eat half of what's on the table (soup, cranberries, stuffing, etc.) at any time, and may refuse to eat all of it just because it's near food he doesn't like. I love my husband, but he takes a lot of the fun out of holidays by being bah humbug. I'm hoping this will change once there's a LO whose experience he will care about.

Sorry about your H and his picky eating! Could you have the food he likes and only make a small portion for him, then make the rest regular if he won't eat it anyway? I would be frustrated too, not so much at his pickiness but that he's being so grumpy about it!
Thanks for the well wishes about my ultrasound! We would be happy either way and I really don't have any idea about which it might be, but I do want to get to use our name before another family member does, haha!

Not much new going on here. My bump is getting bigger. I'm feeling pretty good these days, when the headaches stay away. Very excited to find that I still have 6 prepaid yoga classes, even though I haven't gone in over a year. So I'm excited to get back into some exercise routine. No known appointments coming up. Still waiting to get the approval for the perinatal specialist for my a/s. Hopefully they will call this week, since they have to do it in the next 2 weeks.
QOTW: I LOVE thanksgiving!!!! I mostly love the food. I really love fall in general, even though it doesn't really exist here in CA. We always play these goofy games after dinner, and my family is just crazy and it's so much fun. The count down has begun! Give me all the stuffing!!!
@GrailSeeker14 That sounds fun! We haven't even started to look at furniture yet; I need to get started! What color is it? Thanks for the cannolis, one of my favorite desserts!

Hi everyone. This will be brief as I have a dreadful cold that just won't quit and even looking at this screen hurts my head...uggh. I'm 15w, 3d and feeling pretty good, pregnancy-wise. I am definitely showing and can't really hide my lil' bump any more, which I'm surprised because some people don't show at all at this stage...but I suppose everyone's just different. I have an ultrasound next week at 16 weeks to check my cervix length. I'm wondering if they will check the bean too and possibly, maybe check the sex?!? QOTW: in Canadaland we've had Thanksgiving already, which I love...but I still love Christmas even more. It's just the *feeling* associated with it, the family togetherness, amazing meal, the lights, decorations, exchanging presents. I can only imagine how much more special it is when you have a little one to share in the excitement!

It's a girl! I didn't want to admit it, but we really wanted a girl. Two years ago, we were in the process of adopting a little girl from Russia. We found out 5 days before Christmas that adoptable children were used as political pawns, and we lost the ability to adopt her. The baby in my belly is in no way a replacement, but she does help us live some of the dreams we had for our Russian daughter.
QOTW- Christmas is by far my favorite holiday, but this season in general brings me immense joy. My birthday is in 2 weeks, then Thanksgiving, and then all things Christmas. For years, DH and I went to NYC every Christmas Day and stayed for a few days. This helped us cope with IF, and was especially helpful with our adoption loss.
Hi ladies! Loving all of your updates! I'm traveling this week for work so I haven't been on much. We had a great appointment on Friday and heard a nice, strong heartbeat (I still haven't given in to the urge to buy a Doppler, so this is still exciting for me). Bump is definitely growing and I started to feel the baby move this week! Posting from iPad, so I'm sorry for no formatting. Favorite holiday is definitely Christmas - my family always spent a ton of time together both Christmas Eve and Day, and I have amazing memories of it. As a vegetarian, Thanksgiving has never been too exciting, but my father-in-law always goes out of his way to make veggie options, so the holiday is growing on me.

I love reading all of the updates, and this is the only thread I read on the bump. It is very reassuring to see people going through the same things (like freaking out when going off progesterone shots, transitioning to normal pregnancy appointments timing, etc).
I don't have much to report. Some days, I feel like this pregnancy is not real…even though I've experienced the symptoms and see my body growing every day. My husband's response to "doesn't my stomach look bigger?" is "isn't it supposed to be?" Well, yes but this is weird. I'm looking forward to feeling my baby girl move.
QOTW: I love the holidays. I guess I would have to prefer Christmas. My two favorite traditions are: (1) cutting down a Christmas tree at a tree farm…I've experienced all sorts of weather over the years and have a lot of funny memories with my friends. My husband had to join in this tradition, but he was game (2) Christmas Eve service, especially singing "Silent Night' by candlelight. Many years ago, the power went out due to a blizzard and the entire service was in candlelight. The power came back on right at the end when we sang "Joy to the World". It's a joyful world indeed … especially this year.
@GrailSeeker14 Yes, my kitty can be annoying when he has to be near the bump and won't move all night! It makes for even less room in our bed, haha!
I'm sorry about your fight with your MIL and the difficulties with the furniture order. At least it's all put together now and you can focus on other stuff! If I wasn't such a procrastinator I would love to have the room ready now! I'm hoping that I'll get a lot done over winter break since I'll have a week off from school while my H still has to work. You should feel glad for all you've gotten accomplished already!

I'm 15w1d today. I had an OB appointment this week where my BP was high too - It was especially odd, since I also had an endocrinologist appointment the same day were my systolic was 106 (as opposed to the 124 they got at the OB). Since I had the more normal reading in the morning, I decided not to worry about it for now.
The OB just checked the babies' heart beats, and found both. I'll be going back to my OB in 3 weeks, and I have my next MFM appointment, which should include a scan (I'm pretty sure) next week.
QOTW: I have a love/hate relationship with both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Part of me loves cooking a big meal, and using the good china for Thanksgiving, and cooking and baking and decorating for Christmas, and part of me hates the cleaning and the stress of hosting so many hard to please people every flippin' year. DH is really attached to hosting, so he volunteers us to host his family (14 people) for Thanksgiving every year, and my family (15-16 people, give or take) for Christmas every year. And both of our mothers are stuck on seeing everyone for every holiday, so our holiday season always goes something like this.
Thanksgiving Day - Full meal at my mother's house
Saturday after Thanksgiving - We host a full meal at our house with DH's family
Christmas Morning - Breakfast with DH's parents & secret santa exchange w/ sibilngs
(* rush home like you're outrunning the cops to stuff food you spent all of Christmas eve preparing into the oven *)
Christmas afternoon/evening - Host my family for a buffet dinner & secret santa exchange with siblings.
Day after both holidays - AMShark - clean all surfaces & silverware until dizzy; DH sit on couch and talk about how much food he ate.
I don't see how we can maintain that kind of a holiday schedule with 2 LOs next year, and I've already told MiL that we won't be able to host Thanksgiving next year (but she's not the one that's hard to convince - It's DH that I need to stop from volunteering us).
I have visions in my head of having a quiet Christmas mornings in our own home with our own little family, but alas, I don't think that will ever be.
@AMShark when I was going to my RE my blood pressure was high quite often (this is uncommon for me). I would ask them to try another cuff and it would be ok. Might be worth a try if you continue to have problems.
Hi Ladies! I am back The rest of the first trimester really kicked my hiney. I will spare you the details but "blip" and I are getting stronger by the day
So glad to see everyone is doing well. We are just about 16 weeks, first trimester screening went well, and we will find out the gender sometime next month!
.QOTW- Looking forward to thanksgiving...because I can finally eat What could be better than Thanksigving in stretchy pants? Not much I dare say!
My favorite holiday really is Christmas. Its the magic of the day. This year we will reveal the gender to my family on Christmas morning...per my nephews request. Should be fun! I love everything about the Holiday, but what I am most looking forward to is our visit from Santa at the school this year. Beginning 14 years ago now, I was able to snap a pic of my eldest nephew with what might just be the best Santa I have ever seen. Every year we have the same Santa come back, and subsequently I have years worh of each of my nephews with the same Santa. I teared up when I saw Santa stroll through our doors last month, after all these years I will finally have my own little one sitting on Santa's Lap! What really made my day was Santa tearing up right back, and saying about damn time. He knew the only thing on my list for the last several years was to become a Mom. I can't even stand the excitement! It kills me when men cry. Especially Santa I will post a pic with the ultrasound here for you ladies!
All the best, good health and happy babies, until next week

Re: ~*~*~* Weekly IVF/TTTC/2IF/Infertility grads check-in 11/4 *~*~*~
So, 16w4d today. I feel huge. I've totally popped with the twins. At my OB appointment last week, dr said that my uterus was already about 4"-5" above my belly button. This time around, since there are two in there, my "B" belly is much more rounded and I'm more confident in wearing the side rushed shirts
I'm happy to report that I've had a LOT of relief from my nausea, although it seems to have been replaced with headaches and back aches, so I'm trying to drink more water and put my feet up when I can.
Maybe not as many as last year, but DS LOVES to be Mommy's cookie helper
(i.e. official batter eater, frosting sampler and sprinkle bandit)
I will be honest that I was a little disappointed but I'm happy he is healthy and I hope he comes out looking just like my husband as a baby because he was amazingly cute! I have my follow-up with my RE on Monday, and then my next OB appt is the 19th or something like that.
My favorite holiday is X-mas. My family always gets together and does a huge dinner an presents thing and I love all the Christmas music. I can't wait!
QOTW:
Now that we’re in to holiday season, what is your favorite fall/winter holiday? What are your favorite traditions or memories of this holiday?
I love Thanksgiving because it is just about getting together and it's very easy for me. My MIL insists on doing everything for it so we just have to show up, eat, and have a nice time! It's very relaxing so I like that a lot. However, I love Christmas the most! I enjoy shopping for everyone's gifts and seeing them open them. One tradition my H introduced to me that his family always did was open a gift on Christmas Eve. We've done it since we've lived together and I really enjoy it! I'm hoping to plan lots of fun things to do this year so that we can really enjoy the holidays now that we will be expanding our family!
edit: tags weren't working
On the less exciting front, I've still been having horrible migraines that last for several days. I've never had headaches like this in my life. I had no idea before this that it was even a symptom of pregnancy.
QOTW:
I've always loved Thanksgiving, but have struggled with it more since being with my husband (we've only been married for a year).

** It's a BOY!!! **
Sorry for the rant!
***Losses mentioned.*** TTC #1 since May 2012. Me: 37, OH: 41. Ectopic August 2012 => tubal damage.
QOTW: I LOVE thanksgiving!!!! I mostly love the food. I really love fall in general, even though it doesn't really exist here in CA. We always play these goofy games after dinner, and my family is just crazy and it's so much fun. The count down has begun! Give me all the stuffing!!!
We go on our baby moon next week and then have the a/s at 19w2d.
QOTD- I love Christmas!! Cookies, turkey, stuffing, yum!!

Hi Ladies! I am back
The rest of the first trimester really kicked my hiney. I will spare you the details but "blip" and I are getting stronger by the day
So glad to see everyone is doing well. We are just about 16 weeks, first trimester screening went well, and we will find out the gender sometime next month!
.QOTW- Looking forward to thanksgiving...because I can finally eat
What could be better than Thanksigving in stretchy pants?
Especially Santa
I will post a pic with the ultrasound here for you ladies!
All the best, good health and happy babies, until next week
