Cloth Diapering

car seat poncho

I feel like I should make one since V is in a convertible now. Last winter he still hadn't outgrown his infant seat, so I could just bundle him up with blankets or whatnot on top, and lug him outside in the polar vortex in that if I needed to.

Do you have any favorite tutorials, extra points for no sew. Or should I just cut a hole in some fleece and call it a day? I was thinking about make it 2 layers thick, which would be on top of his light fleece jacket I put him in. Enough for a Chicago winter?

Re: car seat poncho

  • Mine, I used a big circle of fleece and cut a hole in the center for a neck hole. I hemmed the bottom and bound the neck, but it's not necessary because fleece doesn't fray. I cut a straight line down the front and added snaps as a closure, although we usually just left the top three snaps undone and put it over her head. I only made it one layer thick to wear over her fleece jacket, because otherwise it would have been way too hot in the car with the heat on. It was warm enough because we weren't spending tons of time outside, we used them for times when it was 'Get into the car so we can go out.' not 'Let's go play in the snow.'
