Huh, I actually thought the most popular way to spell it was Quentin. I have a friend whose name is spelled that way, and then there's Quentin Tarantino. But I definitely agree on Camden.
Thanks for the input . Ya I like Camden . The only reason Quentin is spelled differently is because of San Quentin prison. I actually prefer Quentin spelling - doesn't really matter since my husband thinks of the prison . Thanks for the help
I like Quinton a lot (I thought this was the proper spelling). My first thought was of a kid I used to play Power Rangers with at my grandpa's house. He was fun, sweet and smart. My second thought was Tarantino. I also love the nn Quint.

I have a very common first name that it spelled in an uncommon way (recently it is starting to be much more popular). I can't tell you how many times people mis-spelled and mis-pronounced my name growing up. It was sooooo annoying. They even spelled my name wrong on my college degree. The names you've picked are unique enough that you don't need to spell it any differently.
I wouldn't consider changing the spelling. It is still pronounced exactly like the prison, even with the different spelling (I hope). So if that is the issue, you are not avoiding it. Go with the correct spelling. I think that unless you live in the same town as the prison, most people would not immediately make that connection anyway.
@sugahcookie01 did I tell you DH picked the names Raven and Camden for our kids. Clearly someone is attached to Bmore.

Either Camden or Quentin are fine names, if spelled properly (aka in the most commonly accepted ways). Otherwise you'll have a son whose name carries a stigma and who himself carries a burden of correction. There is academic research clearly demonstrating bias against the hiring of people whose names are misspelled. I'm not at all suggesting that it is right or ok that this happens in society, but I wouldn't pretend it didn't matter when it would be my son who would face the consequences.

Totally.
Your kid will be unique enough without you spelling their name weird for the sake of being different.

(Though my first thought was the director, not the prison.)
