2cm dialated since Saturday help.

Im 37 wks and 1day. On Friday i had my regular antenatal appointment had to go up the hospital as bp was high and id been getting headaches and swelling in hands, legs and feet. Midwife wanted to be on the safe side to check for pre eclampsia. Bp was checked 3x over an hour and had come right down but i was starting to look like a ghost and there was protein and bacteria found in my urine sample. Bloods were taken and i was asked to come back Saturday for further checks and the blood results. Saturday morning i had my show then over a two hour period i started having pains in my back, groin and pelvis. I was checked over at the hospital again bp was fine, urine was still showing protein and my bloods came back with very low iron levels. Midwife checked and my waters hadnt broken but i was 2cm dialated. After goinf home and trying everything to ease the pain i ended up having to go into the hospital for pain relief. Sods law my contractions stopped and i was sent home sunday lunch time. In the early hours of this morning they started again and i have been at 2cm now since Saturday and it is really taking it out of me. Im stuck in limbo i cant head back to the delivery unit until im 4cm and at this rate i could be waiting days. Im hoping for some encouragement to get me through the next day, days or week please.

  • Yep you have some time, being two centimeters means nothing at all. Some women spend days or weeks at 6! Grab those pregnancy books and go over the information in them again, you'll see what you should really be looking for and what to expect the next few weeks. Like the ladies said, don't expect to have that baby anytime soon. Sorry but probably true.
  • The other ladies have given some great advice! I was feeling incredibly anxious as well. The last month is so hard and the pain/uncomfortableness is usually at its peak then. After going to L and D a second time and only being 1 cm dilated still at 38+ weeks. I just keep repeating to myself what the others have said-only 3-4 weeks to go. No matter what this baby will be here before 42 weeks and that has really helped me settle down. We're in the home stretch. Hang in there!
  • Yeah my BP shot up today and I'm 40 weeks after a long relatively stress free pregnancy, so I can totally understand the anxiety and worry. Hang in there girl! Remember that dilation doesn't matter... But do keep an eye out for those preE symptoms!
  • I suggest try walking, moving around, go shopping staying as much mobile as you can within your comfort zone. It will help you dilate more staying safe and position baby well. Distract yourself and have some nice family and friends time.

I admit I am and many of us are too excited n too anxious for the waiting game to be over and to hold our blessing in our arms. But the patience is in the best interest of our love, the baby.
