s/o the Micah thread..."Mieke"

I asked DH if he liked Micah and he said no, but he likes "Mieke" for a girl. That's the correct german spelling for it to be pronounced "mee-kah."

1. Love it, hate it?
2. Spelling: Mieke, Mieka, Mika, Meeka? Mee'kah? (Just kidding on the last one).
3. Any other german girl names you like? I love Luisa but DH is out on that one.

    I think Luisa is better that Mieke/Meeka whatever. I knew a Hawaiian girl with the name, but it's just ok to me.

    I like it. I remember a poster from a while back w a dd named Meika, which i like. I also really like Mischa

    You get me! Haha...I love Liesl and Brigitta but DH not so much. Johanna is on the list already.

    ETA: I like Anneliese too. Leona and Wilhelmina are nms. I like Margareta but it makes me think of margaritas.

    I don't like it personally.  I prefer Luisa and @dreadpiratebuttercup suggestions of Astrid, Johanna and Wilhelmina.

    I think it's okay, but if you use it, I would use the Mika spelling. But then it kind of loses the German connotation. What about Ada?

    I'm not a huge fan, and I think she'll spend her whole life having people ask if it's pronounced "Meek" or "Mickey."

    I can't picture this as an American girl's name unless she has German heritage.

    I've had German students named Luisa, Clara, and Anna.

    @BunnyBerry‌ we both have german heritage, but I know what you mean. We may not be german *enough* for a very ethnic sounding name. That is definitely something we would need to keep in mind.

    I like that idea. Unless we go with Johanna, then it wouldn't flow.
