Cloth Diapering

New to Cloth

So I got way too excited about cloth diapering and I wanted to build a stash over time to save money. I ordered 12 Sunbabies and 8 tiny tush one size fitteds. I received my tiny tush order a week ago and I'm so mad and frustrated.. They were on sale but I spent 90 dollars including 2of their one size covers. The fitteds stitching is not equal the elastic doesn't seem strong and even on the smallest setting they are HUGE! I'm so discouraged and disappointed. I don't want to risk buying cloth diapers again to get such disappointment.. Any advice?

Re: New to Cloth

  • "One-size" does not actually fit birth to potty learning.  Plan to have a separate newborn stash and one-size stash.

  • I am not familiar with tiny tush, so no advice about the quality. But about the size, there is no such thing as a truly OS diaper (except maybe a flat). Most "OS" diapers begin to fit around 10-12 lbs and about 6-8 weeks, so you shouldn't expect them to look super tiny. You need a separate stash of diapers for newborn size.

Have you looked into GMD fitteds? Great quality, super popular, great resale value, and very inexpensive.

  • You can also try a trial pack or just research and buy one or 2 of several things to see what you like.

  • Also, I don't think the elastic needs to be very strong on a fitted.  You are going to have a cover over it to keep everything in.

  • If you are disappointed in the workmanship, what's the mfr's (or vendor's) policy on dealing with defects and returns? I'm not familiar with either brand but if you haven't yet washed the diapers and you are already not feeling confident about them, I would try looking at a return or exchange.

This forum is a good place to ask for people's experiences on different brands of diapers, as well as what vendors we have had good experiences with. As well as advice on getting good value for your budget. The more specific your questions, the better we are able to help.

+1 to looking at diaper trials.
