I'm freaking out, and could use some help talking myself off the ledge if anyone is so inclined!
None of my son's medical issues were discovered early, but I still I had an early ultrasound at 16 weeks just to calm my nerves. The tech said everything looked fine, I thought all was well, and I didn't see my doctor again until today. My OB told me today that the tech thought one of baby boy's feet looked turned in (club foot). I realize this is not generally a life threatening condition, and people get worse news, but I’m panicking a little. I don’t want to spend more time in hospitals, and I don’t want baby boy to have to have surgeries or any sort of difficulties. Hasn’t my family spent enough time at the hospital??
Good things:
1) The OB said it could have just been positional, plus the scan was early, and he thinks it’s going to turn out to be nothing. I will then have learned my lesson about the risks of early scans.
2) Club foot can be associated with spina bifida, but the tech took a good look and baby’s spine looked fine. So even if it is club foot, hopefully we wouldn’t have any other issues.
These are good, positive things. If a small physical difficulty is the only thing we have to worry about then I suppose I should count myself blessed. But I can’t help but panic. What is there are other issues and the tech just couldn’t see?? How in the heck am I going to get through the next 2 weeks until the next a/s??

Sometimes too much information does not change outcomes and only upsets the mothers. There are a lot of conditions that are not diagnosed in utero and so many things that they point out in utero that have no actual clinical significance. If this is the ONLY "abnormal" thing it is a standalone issue and probably normal. I'd be pissed they said anything at all this early. Just follow up an ultrasound and look when the kid is bigger.
T&P to you sweetie and big hugs.
