Incontinence 7 weeks postpartum after episiotomy?!

Hi Mommies - my son is 7 weeks old today & I had a rough labor. I had an episiotomy & I'm pretty sure it was a 3 or 4 degree cut. I am still experiencing incontinence. I'm not just talking about a little leak here and there. On Halloween we were pushing him in the stroller and I didn't realize my underwear & down my legs were wet. I pretty much peed my pants and had no idea. I can't workout in fear of peeing & haven't even tried sex yet... Ugh. Anyone else having issues? I'm embarrassed and nervous it will never get better!

  • Thanks girls. It's really debilitating. I am going to call the doc today.
  • Don't worry! I'm in the car and feel the leak coming on now! :(

  • Ugh thanks girls!!! The doctor is calling me back after 3. I just feel like this can't be normal? Will I ever be able to go out and have a drink without thinking i will leak all over?! I'm the MOH in a wedding in 20 days in a light colored flowy short dress!
  • I had a third degree tear and I have to make sure I don't wait too long! Funny story: my muscles down there were/are so weak that 2 weeks pp I was chatting with my dh and couldn't hold in a toot (I NEVER toot in front of him) I let a tiny one out and he started dying laughing so I did too...unfortunately the more I laughed the more I tooted!!! It would not stop! So needless to say..I will probably never live that down!! Just know you're not alone!
  • lol thank you for sharing!!! It's good to know I'm not alone <3
  • I had a 4th degree tear - I have been seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist since was cleared by my ob at my 6 week appt. They do therapy each week and given me some exercises to do at home. I would check with doctor or see if there is a therapist in your area or look into "Hab it" sold on Amazon - a pelvic floor video. Best of luck - serious tear are not fun. I had a lot of pain with mine and it's been considerably reduced with the therapy.
