Party game/toy for 2-6 year olds

Last year for LO's first birthday, I filled a kiddie pool with ball pit balls, and he had a blast playing with his older cousins (2 and 5 at the time) in there. They were in and out throughout the party. It was quite a hit.

I'd love to have something similar this year that the kids can all play with to amuse themselves. I want it to be something that I set up and leave for the kids to play with as they like, not an organized game. My LO wouldn't even really understand or participate in an organized game.

It's a sesame street theme party, but if the toy isn't related to that, it's fine.

This is in December, so it has to be indoor-friendly, btw.

Any suggestions?

You could do the same ball pit this year.  The primary colors of the balls would fit with the colors of Sesame Street.  You could add a kiddie slide into the kiddie pool filled with balls since the kids are a little older this year.  I always wanted to try this, but never got around to it.

Other ideas: coloring station, puzzle station, (anything educational would be cute), count with the Count (I am not sure how you could work that one so that you wouldn't have to oversee it), Feed Cookie Monster (Cookie monster corn hole boards with cookie beanbags), figure out something with ducks for Ernie's duck pond, Oscar's garbage can toss.....

    So many cute ideas!!!

What about digging for Sesame Street characters (think little action figures) in plastic bins of beans or sand (though more messy)? Have fun!

  • Thanks, guys! I'm leaning towards a "feeding cookie monster" game, though to make it with mostly materials that I have on hand I'll probably just use a large metal mixing bowl with a picture of cookie monster attached. I can't find cookie bean bags, so I'll probably just buy regular ones. Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious I'll try and attach some pictures of cookies on there. :) Thanks again!
