PnP weight recommendations..

If you are using the PnP for sleeping or even for playing... It says that the bassinet can hold up to 15lbs. DD is pushing the edge at 14.6lbs and we are looking to move out of the RnP (not ready for the crib in another room yet) and into the PnP. We borrow a portable crib from my mom and tried it out last night but I feel like the PnP would work equally as well and we wouldn't need to purchase another piece of baby gear.

We use the top level often for naps and as a little play area when we need to get her off the floor.

Have you all been using the top section beyond 15lbs? STMs? I mean, I guess we could just drop it to the bottom, but it's a lot easier to grab her and I obviously don't want to compromise her safety if the thing will collapse because of weight.

Re: PnP weight recommendations..

  • Do you mean the bassinet attachment?

We had to stop using it several weeks ago because DS was getting too long.  At that point, I bought sheets for the "play" part of the PnP and made it into a little crib for him.  We haven't adjusted it down or anything yet.

He sleeps there every night, and seems to do really well there.  We used to flip the bassinet over for diaper changes, but now we just do diaper changes on our bed (I usually position the wipes and burp clothes to the side where if he started to roll, he'd hit a speed bump and hopefully get stuck before falling.)

  • Thanks ladies! Seems like we are coming to the end of the top part! We'll have to try her out on the bottom.

  • We haven't moved LO down on her PNP and she is 15 1/2 pounds. She doesn't move around much and I don't see it dipping at all and it's very sturdy. Maybe once she hits 16 I'll feel differently, but right now she is fine. We did stop using the napped attachment about a month ago because she was too long for it.

  • I know you said you don't want another item, but the rock n play bassinet goes to 25 or 30 lbs an is a smaller footprint than a pnp. If DD2 is still in our room when she outgrows the weight for the pnp bassinet we will switch to that.

I was actually looking into this! I really want DD to start getting used to a more open space, is it enough room for her to stretch her legs?

  • We have a RnP and when DD stretches out she's almost touching both ends (she's normal for her height). I will agree with wanting her to get used to open spaces. We have been trying to transition her to her crib and she seems to be doing ok. I still keep the RnP in our room for the nights when the crib is a battle.
