Over the holidays everyone on my side of the family kept asking me when we were going to have a baby. Then proceeded to tell me about all the infertility issues on my mom's side. One of which I knew about, but there are two more:
1) my cousin on my mom's side (successful with fertility drugs for both kids)
2) a second cousin on my mom's side (successful IVF)
3) another second cousin on my mom's side (never got pg)
That's a lot! Kind of leaves me concerned.
Anyone else have a family history? I know second cousins are a long shot, but still.....
Re: Anybody have infertility issues in your family?
Don't even worry about that. I know its hard but try not to. If my family history mattered, i think id be knocked up using 3 condoms at once
Unless it's my mother or grandmother, I wouldn't concern myself with cousins infertility issues! I don't have any that I know of since my mom got pregnant on BC and grandma has 7 kids, plus grandma on the other side has 4 kids. I'd rather not search for things (or in your case have them pointed out) that will stress me unnecissarily.
Ha, ha! I love it!
I come from a family of fertiles. My sister for PG with #1 on the first try and she got PG with her 2nd on her 2nd try.
DH's sister had a blocked tube and once that got fixed, she was fine.

I have a family history...but not of infertility!
My maternal grandmother had 22 children (no twins, no miscarriages) before the doctor tied her tubes during a C section without her permission. She and my grandfather were extremely poor and also extremely religious, and she thought it was "God's Will." (Read: CRAZY!!!!) None of the 22 children or any of their children as far as anyone knows has ever had an infertility issue.
My paternal grandmother had 5 children, all of whom have several children, with no miscarriages and no infertility issues. In fact, several of the children were accidents.
My mom had my brother and me on her first cycle off BC each time.
And while it all sounds fabulous, it doesn't convince me that it will be easy for me. Just like how I think don't that just because you have a family history of infertility, it will be the same for you.
And heck, if it IS easy for me, then I better be worried that mental illness is also on my plate. Lord knows my mother is BSC.
Thank you IVF for our little miracles!!
Nope, none that are blood related.
My mom had 5 kids, as did her mom. My dad's mom had about a jillion kids. My sister has 3 (including a set of twins).
I'm the odd ball on this one.
