STM: Baby Bjorne vs Ergo

I need opinions on which carrier is better. I've seen on YouTube that people have used the baby Bjorne for infants, but I'm wondering how safe it is. I also watched a few reviews on the ergo infant insert and that looks really difficult! Has anyone used these? And opinions please!

I think you'll find many more for the ergo. Baby Bjorn is known as a crotch dangler. The ergo is much better for baby's hips as well as for mom's shoulders.

I have the ergo and the infant insert is pretty easy to use. I just always put it on over the bed until I got more comfortable. I and so know people who have forgone the insert and just roll up a baby blanket under the baby's bottom.

I have a bjorn and used it with both of my older ones with no problems. The myth is that is causes hip dysplasia, but it doesn't. If the child already has it, the dangling legs wouldn't make it any better. The Ergo (and other praised ones) hold the hips up more in a sitting position, but the extreme spread of the legs wouldn't be good for the infant either for long periods of time. You also have the slings that don't require the legs to be spread at an early age, but then you have the suffocation risk issues.

None of the carriers are going to be perfect. I'd say try them out and see which one fits you better, but it's hard to do with a bump in the way. This time around, I plan on using a variety of carriers (bjorn, mai tei, sling, and possibly a moby wrap if I can figure it out) just because I have them (well knock off versions of most).

Never used the Bjourn, but am a huge fan of the Ergo here! I used the Moby when they were tiny, then transitioned to the Ergo.

I had both and perfered the Ergo. I got a Boba wrap this time for when he is really little and as he gets bigger I will switch him to the Ergo. Like others mentioned though you can get an infant insert.

We have the Ergo (and the infant insert). It's very easy to use. Our only issue was that DS was born in late April, and using the infant insert was really warm, so we didn't get very much use out of it until we could use it without the insert/when it cooled down. That shouldn't be a problem this time, because you know January

We never really used our stroller much, so we've gotten A LOT of use out of the Ergo. We went hiking a few times this summer and it still works to carry DS when he gets tired.

I also bought a ring sling for this time because I wanted something a little less structured and easy to put on/take off for around the house.

I don't have any experience with the Bjorn, but we have an Ergo and really like it. Unfortunately, DD hated it with the infant insert, so we didn't use it until she was quite a bit bigger.

Ergo,all the way! We love ours, and the infant insert is not hard to use. It's a little bulky, though, and you could get away with using a couple of blankets instead.

I also had a Baby Bjorn for DS1 and got a Moby for DS2 and DS3. I kept thinking DS1 was slipping out of the Bjorn because the side gaps are so big for infants. Also, I always felt it put his legs too far apart for such a young baby. It put a lot of strain on my shoulders and back as well. I love the Moby, but have heard so many great things about the Ergo, if I had to buy one again I'd probably go with the Ergo.

I loved my Ergo. The infant insert wasn't that hard to use. I used the carrier a ton and up until baby was a year.

I've never used a Bjorne but I have an Ergo and I love it. I also love the Moby Wrap - it's great for infants.

I'm officially built really oddly and the bjorn fits me way better. We've had friends that has used both and they pretty split on opinions. I've inherited a bjorn from a friend and I got myself a moby wrap.

Plan is to start with the moby and try the bjorn. If we hate it we aren't out any money and can look at trying LO in the ergo. Before I knew we were going to be gifted the bjorn though I was just planning on using the wrap and actually taking LO to try out the options.
