Toddler bed/low to the ground twin

we went to ikea today to look at beds for DD. We didn't fall in love there and got sticker shock at a furniture store next to ikea.

What do you have? Any suggestions on places to look?

The only thing I really loved at IKEA is that the twin beds are low to the ground.

Our little Samosa arrives in January!

    We have an Ikea convertible crib and it's low to the ground but it's silly to buy a crib at this point! I guess I always just had a really simple bed but cute sheets so I've never thought about looking for a "pretty" bed.

    We just bought Calvin a twin mattress at Ikea.  Put it on the ground for now; he's doing great on it.  Once he gets older, we'll buy a bed frame and box spring to go with it, but no use getting a toddler bed for just a year or two.

    On the subject of beds, I'm excited because my sister is going to GIVE us her bunk bed her youngest son used, barely. Shortly after they got it his father bought him a full sized bed and he liked it better because it was larger. She said it doesn't adjust to low, but if you don't put on a box spring yet it will be lower and should work. So that is our plan for now. J is still in the crib and has just started to "explore" the rail but hasn't really attempted to climb over, yet. When he does we'll remove the front rail and leave him in that bed for a bit. He's so tall though it won't be too long before we have to switch him.
