Now that we are a few months into this, what books that you read pre-baby deserve to be burned in a bonfire? Same goes for advice you thought made sense at the time or even...gulp...advice you have other parents before you had kids.
Happy Monday ladies!

Re: Books to burn/worst advice
Then it goes on about how cortisol levels are higher in kids in daycare. And the final straw for me was when it said that babies with lip and tongue ties are more common in women that use cocaine while pregnant, not to say if your baby has one you did, but that you probably used some stimulant that caused it. WTF?
I don't necessarily think it's a bad book but I do think it gives some bad feelings if you're unable to have the natural birth..
Also, those who say "sleep when baby sleeps" must have maids and chefs.
Agreed on Ina May- I thought the book was a bit pretentious and judge-y.
If you need stitches you won't even notice once that sweet baby is lying on you.
You will be so bored on maternity leave and want to come back to work after a month or two.
Do your shower thank you cards while on leave. You'll have so much time!
Breastfeeding is so natural and the baby will know what to do.
All lies!
You'll hate being a SAHM. I give you a month before you're crying to go back to work. Um no. LO is almost two months old and I'm loving it. No plans to go back to work for a while.
There's a great podcast called The Longest Shortest Time. She did an episode about this and how Ina May made her feel awful. You should check it out.
My labour with LO #1 stalled for hours and I needed pitocin to get things going again (after 30+ hours) so I really appreciated reading in Ina May that stalls are the result of "unresolved emotional issues." SUPER HELPFUL, INA MAY.
That was sarcasm, btw.
I never officially read the womanly art of breastfeeding because I never finished it with DD1!!
Also all the advice about my breasts and making them lactate effectively. I've had 2 kiddos now, both lost significant weight since I'm not making anything for them. Nothing! So kiss my ass!! You may have "loved" breastfeeding, but my kids love getting actual food in their bellies.
I love hearing other moms birth stories, but I hate when people act like you're satan because you got an epidural, pitocin, induced, whatever. It's such a beautiful, personal moment; no one does theirs better than you did it. My birth, my story!!
