April 2015 Moms

Have y'all bought any baby gear yet? Or started looking for sales on gear?

I have most stuff from my oldest but needed a few more things. I found a car seat for cheap so I bought that. Great deal on the seat. Yesterday I bought a City Select so I can haul around two little ones. And I truly do mean haul.... I put that sucker together and it's HUGE! So anyone in the hunt for anything? Stuff will be going in sale now through the new year as new models come out! Yay!

Re: Have y'all bought any baby gear yet? Or started looking for sales on gear?

Mostly just clothes for summer next year as it's all on such a high clearance! && we aren't revealing gender so hoping the clothing amounts we get at shower are low! & started doing lots of research on big "gear" items for my registry. Just slowly starting that so I ensure I register for what items work best for me! My fav purchase I have to share - for my peanut baby girls newborn pics (this hockey stuff is all for the hubby! I'll be getting tutus for other pics haha)
  • I've been doing research on the big items I want so I can keep a look out for deals. We will be buying all the nursery furniture hopefully in the next few weeks!

  • My parents are graciously gifting us our crib.  I'm probably going to buy the IKEA dress that we're going to use for the changing table this weekend while I'm up in Minneapolis since it's on sale.  Other than that, we're really waiting until after showers to buy anything else we need.

  • We haven't bought any big things yet; but I've started doing research and looking for what I might like. We plan to make a registry in a week or two since my mom has said she wants to get us stuff for Christmas. I do watch for sales though, and if I see something I'd have no problem with buying now.

  • We bought the furniture for the room, and then I've picked up a few small things as I've seen good sales. Most stuff I'll be able to reuse from DD, so I don't have much to get. The last big thing I'm looking for is a double stroller.

  • If purchasing a new stroller or other big items, I have been told the best deals will be between now and November 30, as stores will be looking to sell 2014 models.

  • Haven't bought a thing, but we need nothing.  The infant carseat is in great shape and not expired so that will be reused along with the rest of all of our gear.  Waiting to find out if #3 is another girl.  If so, we will reuse the nursery and move DD2 to a new "big girl" room.  Otherwise about the only thing we will need to buy is a crib.

  • I've looked at things but haven't bought anything yet. My mom said she wanted to gift us a crib and I like the City Mini stroller but nothing is needed really. We don't have much space to begin with and baby will be sharing a room with us so I can't go wild. Baby will have his/her own room and both grandparents house so we can fill er' up there.

  • Besides clothing we haven't bought anything. No big ticket items. We are planning on buying them slowly but surely one at a time. I've already been trying to find Black Friday deals for baby gear. If anyone sees a good one let me know!
  • There should be some deals Black Friday for sure and Target always seems to clearance out a bunch of baby gear in January. I've don't really good at Target in previous years. Graco does have a nice $25 rebate right now. Combined with a seat on sale it's a good deal for sure for infant seats.

I'm not buying a carseat until March...they expire and I don't want to waste time with it sitting in storage for 6 months.

The seat we used for #1 and #2 expired is Feb 2015...had I waited longer to get it in 2010, we could have used it for this baby too.  oh well.

I will start gathering baby stuff like crib sheets and clothes after Christmas.  (I gave all my stuff away thinking we wouldn't have #3 for a while...whoops!)

  • We're having showers on both sides of the family the week before Christmas since we live so far away and it's the only time we will be near friends or family before April.

I'm waiting until January to see what we still need and hoping to get some good after Christmas bargains.

Plus I'm pretty set on the 2015 uppababy vista and would feel like an ass putting that on my registry. We'll be buying that early next year also, with no expectation of a "deal" :(

  • We are going to wait until the Black Friday sales to buy the bigger items such as a crib, changing table, and rocker. Everything else is on our registry for now.
  • I'm saving money at the moment for the after xmas/ new years sales but i have managed to get most of the bigger stuff i need from friends or quite cheap luckily. :)

  • We have started looking at cribs and dressers online but won't pull the trigger until the new year. Still, if I find something on sale I'll probably snap it up! I've started an Amazon wish list of everything you bump mommas recommend and that's satisfied my desire to start nesting right away (online window shopping?). We'll keep the guest room for guests as long as possible :)
  • I bought a swing/bouncer combo and a rock and play sleeper from an facebook for sale site for cheap and some clothes after we found out the sex. This is my fourth and all our previous baby stuff was ruined in a basement flood. So I have a giant Amazon wish list that is going to get smaller by Black Friday.
  • @redheaded14‌ I searched high and lo for a deal on the uppababy vista before discovering the 2014 is likely to not be discounted since they r so short on stock, and uppababy has contracts with their retailers to not put their products on discount. BUT I found a website, peppyparents.com, that offers no sales tax and $10 off when signing up for emails! $10 bucks shmen bucks but it's something, and saving the tax on that pricey a stroller is significant. Ordered mine a few weeks ago and it will be here at the end of dec/early jan - everyone is pretty back ordered! Ps. Called uppababy to confirm they r a reliable retailer and good to go
  • We bought the city select stroller with the extra seat and attachable sit and stand board! It's amazing. My 6 year old stands on the board, the 3 year old in the front and the baby will be closest to me. We go to the Orlando theme parks 5-10 times a year so this stroller will be a lifesaver- esp with 3 kids!
  • I'm waiting for the anatomy scan to start purchasing things. I know we need a new monitor as DS will still have his, and we need new nursery furniture, and some warmer clothes since DS was born in summer, but I just don't have a lot of shopping motivation right now.
  • I bought a dresser off of craigslist for a great bargain and bought a few little outfits after our elective ultrasound. But I'm waiting till black friday to try and find a good deal on the crib, glider and other big items.
  • @tommyandlarissa we're holding out for the 2015 which is why I say no expectation of a discount.  Just prepared to pay through the nose for a bad ass stroller.  It's the only really expensive thing I am eyeing, so I don't care too much.

  • We found a crib and a changing table on craigslist... But then this family also had a like-new glider, pack n play, and jungle themed swing! Sooo now we actually have a lot of things...
  • I am also patiently awaiting the 2015 uppa baby vista!

@redheaded14‌ @abc829‌ we went with the 2015 as well! I love the idea of it so much more since it can be a full double. We preordered it since they sell out so fast although truly no rush since we are all having April babies :) ours will b here in jan. Oh yes, definitely no discount although the tax savings was nice, we saved $75 buying from peppyparents.com.
  • We got our registry done... Sent it to the in laws, it was on the baby website. (Still can't figure out the stupid videos). Anyway, now a pack n play is sitting at the door. We've also got a stroller and car seat on the way... Not real sure where I'm going to out these thiggs right now, but at least less stuff I've got to buy. ;)

  • We are reusing a lot of things since this lo is a girl and lo1 is a girl. I have purchased few new nursery items but need to go up in the attic and see what else we need. I plan on getting a new carrier since the one we used with lo1 didn't work out well for me. Hoping the infant car seat isn't expired. Planning a list for Black Friday or cyber Monday deals

  • This is our first baby so we decided to buy one thing at a time, each month something new. We have to do it all alone since we won't be having a baby shower. So far, we ordered the Stokke Trailz stroller along with the Stokke IziGo carseat. It is beyond amazing. Next up are the crib and the changing table, hopefully we will manage to get it all on time! Thinking about buying some diapers but I'm not so sure if it's a good idea to do it before the baby gets here.
  • We've started buying a couple packs of wipes every paycheck. Next up is cloth diapers, since we're "planning" on another one once peanut is 1 1/2 to 2. Car seat/stroller is being gifted to us by my parents. Other than that, we're waiting until after our shower in February to see what else we need :)
  • I pulled the trigger and ordered a dresser, crib and glider which will be here in December. I wanted to make sure it would be here in plenty of time since I've heard stories where a certain crib takes months to ship.

Also if anyone has a Babies R Us, register for everything you need, even the big things you wouldn't expect people to buy. Once your shower is over you can purchase anything off your registry with a 10% discount, then If you sign up for their credit card you get an additional 15% off on top of that. My friend told me that trick and saved about $500.
