Anyone's LO have a first then not done it again?

DD1 did this with walking - took 3 clear steps at 11 and some months then didn't walk again until a couple of months later.

DD2 has done it as well, she rolled over (both FTB and BTF) for me and for OH on separate occasions but this was weeks ago and hasn't done it again since or even looked like she might.  She doesn't seem to have any interest in rolling over now even though she put so much effort into trying before those first rolls.  Maybe she decided she didn't like rolling and chose to concentrate on other things instead.

I'm not concerned (yet) just find it very strange and wondered if anyone else's LO has done something just the once?

  • Not just DD then! Did she seem like she was going to do it again or did she just suddenly roll over again one day?

  • Maybe it's just a thing with rolling?
  • Yes. DD rolls BTF all the time. She's done FTB once about two weeks ago and hasn't done it since.

  • I work with small children, that is a thing that happens all the time. No worries:)

  • I read somewhere that this will happen with babies often. They will achieve something and then essentially be uninterested in it and work on achieving the next milestone or discovery.

  • My son is notorious for that, I think it's part his prematurity nd part his stubborn personality.
He grasped toys like a month ago, then stopped until last week, has only rolled once, giggled one day.
  • My son did that with rolling front to back did it a few times a few days in a row back in September, ( he was 4 months old... Premie..) and now has maybe done it one other time a few weeks ago. He rolls from back to front all the time now but can't seem to remember how to do the front to back :/
  • I just thought it was strange with rolling being the only thing she won't even attempt again. So strange how may LOs did the same thing with rolling!

I thought it was funny that yesterday when Savannah Guthrie returned to the Today show, she proudly boasted that her baby rolled over at 3 weeks. She then said her doctor told her to calm her tits, it was a fluke.
