Like PP said, there's been more than one thread about this and they had some really great ideas if you want to search for them.
I think one or more of the following make a nice gift - wine, soaps/body lotion/scrubs, candles, gift cards. You can combine a few different items like this in a basket with a card and you're done!
My baby shower is tomorrow, so since it's Fall, I got them all a pumpkin-scented candle from Bath & Body Works and baked pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookies. B&BW very frequently has the 2 for $22 in their large 3-wick candles, and if you get coupons in the mail, you can get them even cheaper. My mom and I each purchased part of them, and we had 20% off your total purchase coupons, and then like $10 off a $30 purchase or something like that. My shower tomorrow is being thrown by my church, which is fairly large, and I have 14 hostesses, but I got candles for all of them for less than $100. The candles are regularly $22.50.
Great suggestions so far. My hosts like cooking so I got them some fancy condiments/seasonings. Might be more difficult with a larger group of hostesses. Do you have to get them all the same thing? Individualizing would be a nice gesture if possible.
My SIL threw my shower at my MIL's house. I got them more personalized gifts. My SIL got a bottle of wine, all proceeds from sale of wine go towards a specific habitat at a state zoo. My MIL got a bouquet of flowers filled with fall colors. My mom, who helped make food for shower, got 5 days spent with moi. (We recently moved out of state so any time together is appreciated.)
January '15 January Siggy Challenge: Newborn/Baby Fails
I tried searching for other threads of this on the J15 board and this is the only one that popped up.
For my showers when I had my oldest, I didn't give my hosts anything. They were thrown by DHs and my aunts and both sets knew we were poor college kids and probably wouldn't have accepted or liked any gift we could have afforded.
This time, I will be making my host and hopefully all of the attendants something. It's all friends and I'm still trying to come up with something that would be feasible to make for everyone. (yes, I would do monogrammed something, but I don't know everyone's monogram and those that I do already have a few things that I've monogrammed for them.)
I'm trying to think of some good shower hostess gifts, but not too expensive because I have 6 friends throwing my shower!
Had my first shower yesterday. I went to B&B Works and got shower gel, lotion, and body spray sets. They were having a buy 3 get 3 free sale, so that worked great! Then I picked up baskets, decorative packing shred, and clear plastic basket bags at Dollar Tree to make gift sets. Attach a card saying, "Thank you for making my shower so wonderful, hope yours is wonderful, too!" The hostesses really loved them! ;;)
