Ladies I am in need of some serious help. My sister, SIL x2, MIL and mom are all planning my shower. Should I get hostess gifts? If so do you have a suggestion as to what would be appropriate? I am so lost here. TIA
One HG I received and loved was a Southern Living candle (very fragrant) and black/white polka dot monogrammed umbrella. Card said something about "thank you for showering me/baby with love." Cute and practical.
I didn't for my showers with my first. I didn't think about it or know that it was a thing to do (oops!). I did write them a nice thank you card...
My sil did for her bridal shower this summer. She got us cute cosmetic bags with our first initials on them and filled them with some fun small things (think girly travel items/pampering things). It was cute.
Same here @DBJackson25, mine is the 8th too... My mom planned it so I'm getting her an edible arrangement delivered to her house after the weekend is over.

Pinterest has awesome ideas if you just search hostess gift. I'm doing part homemade part store bought. I'm thinking of making chocolate covered pretzels with different toppings in cute jars and then Amazon has Kate Spade bangles on sale right now that I ordered!
I never knew this was a thing either. I didn't do it for my bridal shower. I was thinking of doing something small like something from Pinterest. I also want to include blue nail polish somehow.
It sounds like you would have several hostesses to buy for, so don't get too stressed out about the gifts having to be extravagant. Even something small is thoughtful and I'm sure will be appreciated. I've received a picture frame, tote bag, candle, monogrammed travel coffee mug, etc. I second the Pinterest recommendation as a place to look for ideas.
I went to Things Remembered and they had lovely small jewelry boxes that I monogrammed. They were $25 for the first one and then $10 for each additional! My five hostesses LOVED them yesterday.

We are excited to meet William Alexander and Harper Abigail in 2015!
I got wine and gift certificates for pedicures for the hostesses of my showers for DS. Cost less than $25/ea but it was a nice little pampering treat for them.
We go together like a wink and a smile. June 27, 2009
Mine is on the 16th. I put together a basket of a bunch of things: candle, candle holder, lotion, plug in scent diffuser and scent oil all from bath and body works, a bottle of wine, the basket itself, and a hanging chalkboard sign that I wrote thank you on... And some chalk. I picked things I was sure she'd like and were a bit personal to her.
For my bridal shower I got a bunch of stuff from bath and body works for each hostess and on the card wrote something along the lines of "thank you and here are some things to make your next shower as nice as mine!" Or something like that, I can't remember, all I know is that it had to do with a shower, and B&BW always has coupons which is helpful if you have a few hostesses. I got my MIL a gift certificate for a mani/pedi to a local salon bc she is sensitive to lotions so B&BW wouldn't work for her.
This time I would like to take my hostesses for a mani/pedi but I don't think that is going to work so off to Pinterest I go
I am doing mason jar candles from Bath and Body works. I already had them wrap them for me and I am going to add a hand stamped tag that says Thanks a Bunch.

I'm thinking of gifting my friend/hostess a personalized business card holder from Vista Print with either her monogram or full name. She's planning to start a home day-care business soon and I think she'll appreciate the gesture.

I was going to give my BFF a nice picture frame with a picture of the two of us in it, but I just found out that she is expecting me to pay for over half of my own shower (whole other can of worms lol), so now she will get a thank you card instead.
These were some other ideas I had:
Gift certificate to get her nails done or to a restaurant Monogrammed bath robe Nice flowers A spa type gift basket
Re: Hostess Gifts
Yes, you always give hostess gifts.
