We really like the name Micah, but when we tell people that, they seem to think it's a girls name. Thoughts? Will this be one of the many boys names that in 10 years is considered a girls name? We don't want to give our son a "girly" name...
Boy. I would hope the biblical boy names are safe. I actually have met a woman who would now be in her 30s named Micah, but it definitely seemed weird to me.

I agree, BOY, all the way!!! But I now know of 3 baby girl Micah's and almost every person we say it too, says girl... What??! You guys make me feel better that you seem so shocked people say girl, thank you!
Micah is my son's name! The neighbor kid told us that there's a girl Micah that he goes to school with. Ugh. I imagine we'll have to deal with that now and then, but everyone who's heard his name has assumed that he's male!
I posted about this not long ago.
It is a BOYS name.
I've only ever met females named Micah though.
It's DHs favorite boy name, but I can't get passed my girl associations so I think it is out for us.
No way. Just because some people choose to name their poor girl a 100% boy name doesn't make a name "unisex." It makes their daughter a girl with a boy's name.

Just because you disagree/don't like it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.
It is not a super common name though so it's possible people just haven't heard it before. When they hear a name ending in "ah" they thing girl like Jessica.
I've known 3 Micah's in my life. All very much male.
Boy!!! But I will say at work I have spoken to a few female clients named Micah or some variation of it. But I also helped a woman named American yesterday so there's a lot of unusual names out there right now. Not saying its right just saying it seems to be happening more now than ever.
So I think it depends on how you're pronouncing it when you tell people. When I read Micah, I think 100% boy, no doubt, but I do know quite a few female's spelt (British spelling, I know) Mikka. I think it's usually been in Jewish communities where I've met ladied with this name. So are you pronouncing it My-ka, Meek-ah, or Mick-a?

But I've only met two Micahs in my life and they're both female.
