Re: Gastrochisis

  • I am currently dealing with this and I hate that she has to go through this but just let her know she is not alone. It won't be easy but she has to stay strong for her baby. Tell her to google averts angels. They offer great resources and support. If she has any questions or needs a fellow mom to talk to here is my email. Hmfessler@yahoo.com

  • I  am currently 25 weeks and my baby was diagnosed at 13 weeks. Its extremely scary at first and is absolutely overwhelming, but focusing on each day and enjoying the pregnancy is the best thing to do, because we only get to experience this pregnancy once. Also, finding supportive and experienced doctors at a facility prepared for a gastroschisis baby takes the worry away a bit too. I travel 3 hours every 4 weeks to see specialists at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia and have arranged to live in hospital housing 4 weeks before they believe she will arrive. I know she will be in the best hands and will not leave my side or need to be transferred. Planning is key and so is realizing there is a solution. The condition is temporary and babies are so much stronger than we realize. Each baby is a special gift and we will never be given anything we cannot handle, we just need to focus on how to handle it to the best of our ability. Good luck, and definitely reach out to others for support.

My email is brittanylinnv@gmail.com if she would like someone to speak with at anytime.
