Kissaluvs Size 0 vs. GMD Orange Workhorses

I am buying four RAR covers from a lady next weekend, and she is also selling 15 Kissaluvs Size 0, and wanted to know if I was interested. I am planning on getting about 15 Orange workhorses to last use with our BG NB AIO until all our freetimes and pockets fit, but I think I can get these for about the same price, so I was wondering how they compare? Has anyone used both and liked one better? How is the absorbancy? How long do they usually fit?

Re: Kissaluvs Size 0 vs. GMD Orange Workhorses

  • I have not used both, but just wanted to say that I really loved the KS size 0 during those early weeks. The absorbency is just fine for the frequency for which you need to change a newborn. So, not super absorbent, but absorbent enough.

There will probably be a gap between the time when they stop fitting and when your OS start to fit, though.

  • I had both and loved both. The kissas have a snap down for the cord which was nice in the first couple of weeks. I thought both were equally absorbent and fit for about the same amount of time.

For us, they both fit until we moved to our OS stash. I think I may have liked the GMD a little better but I can't say why. Maybe because they were a little more trim as baby grew? But if you can get a good deal, I'd say get at least some of them. Maybe do half Kissas and half GMD. I don't think you'll regret either choice.

FWIW if I was buying new again, I'd be find with GMD as they are cheaper. But for pre-owned, I'd be happy with either.

  • I also had both and will use both with baby 2 in February. I agree that the snap down is nice on the kissaluvs. The absorbency was about the same and I think I was changing diapers so frequently in the first few weeks that I did not have a preference between the two.

I also bought GMD workhorses with the yellow trim, by the time we were in this size my peanut was going through the absorbency level so these did not work well for us. This time around I will know to add a doubler.

We have five or so yellow workhorses coming to us from a friend, so were trying those out when we get them (if they even come close to fitting, DD was only 6 lbs, so we will see how big this guy is) Ive never seen the Kissaluvs in person, so I guess from pictures those just look a bit weird.... not very thick?

  • I had both and prefer the kl0. My kids' cord stumps hang on forever and the snap down is very useful. I had to fold down the newborn workhorse for the first few weeks and snappi them instead of using the snaps. I sold them and am keeping the kl0's for imaginary third baby.

The kissas don't look weird. The are actually pretty thick and soft.

  • I was in the exact situation as you - planning to get GMD, then had a local seller offer her full stash of KL0's for a great price, and I bought them. I loved them! They fit my tiny 5 pounder right away and lasted fully until she was in one size (and honestly, I could have kept her in them longer, both fit and absorbency-wise, but I was excited she finally fit in one size around 3-4 months). I loved the snap-down rise, they were soft and thick, and I really just had no problems with them. I bought them from a mama who'd used them with her two kids, and I'll be using them again for this next baby, and hopefully several more after that! They really hold up well, I don't see any wear on them.
