Pregnant after 35

I am soooo tired (random vent)

I know, go to bed instead of bumping!

This is DH's busy time so I am on my own with the kids all day + evening. Since I quit my job last spring, this is my first fall as a SAHM. I've really been enjoying it, but I WAY overdid it in some kind of Pinteresty, nesting frenzy of wanting to do all the things we didn't have time to do in past falls. We did cutout cookies one night (nightmare; I learned a lot), frosting the next (went okay but sprinkles everywhere), carved pumpkins the next (cut myself; DD1 fell off her chair 3 times, one kid spilled milk, no one ate dinners, and of course I did like ALL the work), and then had TOT tonight in the frigid weather. I insanely decided to try out a couple "easy" and fun recipes for Halloween dinner and we didn't eat until like 8:30, after TOT...and the kids hated what I made anyway and ended up with hot dogs and candy while I ate way too many cutout cookies and ended up feeling icky. We were ALL shot and it was totally not a good plan. Lost my temper with the kids a couple times (very tired and I have noticed that I am irritable again lately as I was in first tri).

I have to remember to keep things SIMPLE as we go into the holiday season!! I am realizing how much I really need to streamline and stay organized (not naturally organized) so that we can all enjoy Christmas and not be stressed. I so often think I can do more--stay out later, go to another social event, make a big dinner, whatever--and that it will be fun, but I really have to watch it. I can feel that my body is just shot tonight and I need rest.

On a positive note, thank GOD I declined SIL's invitation to drive 1/2 hour into the city tomorrow and go to a super crowded Halloween at the Museum event with them. Would have been a total nightmare. Very relieved that we are not going!!

  • Oh man, just reading about all you did made tired!! MH travels for work all the time too and when he's in town, he works like 7am-7pm. His boss/entire company is nuts... It sucks. I've been sah with DD since she was born. A lot of the time it feels like single parenting. I am exhausted. Esp now, with only a couple of weeks till new baby which will be born via c/s.

    Luckily I don't have many pinterest-y ambitions...
    :)

    Hang in there!

  • Same here. Tired all the time. I had a few weeks in the 2nd Trimester of no naps but now I am back to taking them. Worn the flip out. Thankfully my girls are old enough to fend for themselves and allows me naps when they are home from school.

Me too. The New York Times website keeps showing videos of women in their third trimester doing marathons and serious exercise and it only makes me feel more useless.  Now where did I my Belgian waffle go?
