I seriously can't wait for all of you to have your showers and have the joy that I had today. So many amazing things happened.
TL:DR it was amazing!
1. My college roommate who has twin boys and is an OB nurse has been a rock for me. She lives three hours away and told me she couldn't come. She's a liar. She showed up at the front door and I bawled my eyes out. After the shower, she and her husband and boys came to our house for pizza and the Auburn game (War Eagle!!!).
2. We had about 30 people and it was the perfect mix of friends. Nobody left a stranger and I think everyone left with new friends. The shower lasted about 4 1/2 hours!
3. The food, decorations, entire set up was perfect. We were worried about space and it worked out perfectly.
4. I got three very special gifts that mean the world to me. The first, an original paperback full set of The Chronicals of Narnia books was passed down to me by a dear friend. She used to read it to her siblings and wanted to pass it down to more children. So special. The second is a set of small nursery prints (one boy and one girl) that were passed down from a friend. They were in her nursery, and all of her siblings (4) nurseries, and her two kids nurseries. She and I have a long history so she wanted me to have them too. I'll pass them back to her daughter or son when it's time. Finally, a special ring. It has two rows of diamonds and the inside is inscribed with "mom". She has a sordid past of alcoholism and she actually lost her kids for four years while she was in rehab. After her first two months in rehab, she was giving a talk to a group of women on Mother's Day about how she was afraid she'd never get her children back. A mother came up after the talk and said that the ring was given to her by her son during a special time in their lives. She have it to my friend saying that she has her son now and that the ring would give her the solace of knowing that she'd have her children one day. My friend said she was giving it to me because she has her children now, and she knows how long I've wondered if I'd ever have children, but now I have them and I deserve the mom ring. Amazing.
To top off the day, look at our spare bedroom tonight.......

ETA: I came home to find that DH had done ALLLLL of the things asked of him for today (emptying the nursery and taking a big trip to the dump). He topped it off by setting up both cribs! My dad and BIL were over and they had a contest to see who could finish first

ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive. Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)
