Itchy all over

I'm 27 weeks today and I've been itchy all over for at least 3 weeks now. I moisturize at least twice daily. Cold showers and keeping cool as much as I can. No rash but can't stop the itch. It's not just tummy and boobs either.
Has anyone else experienced this? I can't bath in anything because we have no bath

  • Without a rash I would call your doc. Itching can be a sign of liver issues.

Also a word of advice that I teach my patients... Make sure the lotion that you are using is petroleum based, not water based. Using creams
Like Eucerin, Aquaphor, or just plain Vaseline (not the lotion) are great. Water based moisturizers are hard on the skin because the water evaporates leaving all of the other chemicals on your skin that can cause increased drying or itching.

  • I have the same problem with this itching
  • Have you changed detergents recently? I had that happen after switching brands.

  • My first though echo's what t8keeper03 said, it could be allergies. Check with your doctor, but Benedryl (diphenhydramine hydrochloride) is safe for most pregnant women and would greatly reduce the itching if it is allergies.

I hope you get some relief!
  • Thanks for all tinge replies. I'll try Clarityne. Hopefully that will help

  • I was itchy with my first pregnancy and now it's kicking in with this one.  It sucks!  I don't think the winter dry air is going to help it, but it might not be the sole cause as I had it in the middle of summer with my first pregnancy.  I would have DH massage my back to get me to sleep at night, and that seemed to help me forget about the itching enough to go to sleep.

    Good luck!

  • If Claritin doesn't help I would call your OB. It could be cholestasis.
  • @Rowh81‌ Did the Claritin help?
