Hi, I wouldn't say that I'm new to the board bc I've been following it throughout my entire pregnancy (just not posting anything). I'm 39 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I'm starting to get a little frustrated. Thankfully baby is head down and has dropped but the most of "anything" that I feel are a couple pelvic cramps here and there with a lot of constant back pain bc she's so low. I rarely have braxton hicks and if I do, it's usually because I've caused them by walking and continuing to be active, and when they happen, they're not that strong. This may be TMI but at my last Dr. visit cervix was "softened" but I still wasn't dilated at all. I guess I'm wondering if anybody else has experienced this and if so, how long did it take your body to "wake up" and realize that it needs to go into labor. I would like to have a natural labor but at this rate, I'm probably gonna have to be induced.
Re: 39 weeks with no signs of baby coming any time soon, WTF!
Some women never dilate before going into labour and some women sit at 4 cm for weeks without any action. Again, just be patient. Easier said than done but that's all I've got.
DS was born at 40w6d. No "signs" until I was actually in labor. I never even had BH with him.
No advice in the world can take this frustration away. Just wanted to say "I feel you" and soon it will all just be a memory!
TTC since Sept 2011, Unexplained IF
Oct 12 - Jan 14: 3 clomid/TI cycles, 2 hysteroscopies, 2 IUIs, 1 BFP (MMC @ 12w), 2 more IUIs

Baby boy arrived 11/13/14!
With my last baby I had no signs of labor at my 40w6d appt... She was born a few hours later.
Baby will come when ready. Like others have said you probably have a couple weeks to go and that's ok. Signs mean nothing until you are in active labor.
With my last pregnancy I felt the best I did the entire pregnancy my last two weeks of being pregnant. I went into labor on my own at 40w6d and baby girl arrived in 1.5 hours. You never know!!
