Convertible car seat straps

How do I know if the straps on the convertible car seat are tight enough. The pull strap thing wouldn't pull anymore, but there seems to be some give, especially on the straps around his hips. We have a Graco Headwise, if that's important for your answer.

    I would imagine they would be the same as the infant car seat. We are now in a convertable car seat too, and get straps are as tight as they were in her infant seat.

    Lurker and carseat enthusiast here :)
    Push the chest clip down, remove the slack from around the hips, retighten, and then move the chest clip back up.
