Same as what PP suggested but I would add a couple things-- -a bath robe -slippers/cozy socks -change for the vending machine -chargers for all electronics (phone, laptop, camera, etc) - soft cotton undies (preferably with elastic waistband) -hair ties/brush Also-- I would bring your own super absorbent maxi-pads no matter what. Hospital pads are like big diapers and are super uncomfortable.
After going into to labor at work and having my husband pack and bring a bag ti the hospital for me, I will be packing one this weekend. I know he was a nervous wreck, but bless his heart, it was the worse pack job ever!!!! Kinda makes me laugh, love that silly man of mine.
I brought a maternity belt, wasn't sure if I was going to have a c section. If you have a robe, make sure it has pockets. Mine didn't and I had to hold my cell and other things every time I visited my baby in the icu.
After this weekend in L&D, I'm adding an extension cord for my charger (I use my iPad a lot) and flip flops for the shower. The shower here reminds me of college dorms! They are total extras but worth it to me.
5 IUIs and an IVF
It's all worth it for Baby Boy, born 9/30/13!
What do you know, Baby Girl just popped up! Due 1/2/15
Adding in chapstick/lip balm, etc. Not sure if the air is funky up here in Canada, but my lips have been really dry since being in the hospital. And I think it could get even worse when in labor. I feel like I apply it every hour in here. So slip one in in case

@MusicFanatic - I think it's hospitals in general. I always keep lip chap and eye drops with me at work because I get so dry by the end of my shift. Not a good look.
Thanks everyone. I'm gonna make a list tonight. Will I need to bring any extra diapers or will hospital provide those until we leave hospital?
It probably depends on the hospital but mine provided all the diapers we used. They even gave us a couple extra packs to take home too! Maybe bring some just in case? Or you can ask the hospital when you register and take a tour?
I procrastinated last time and ended up being sent to the hospital and having to have my husband pack. I will not do that again!
I will bring: Pillow Robe Comfy pj type clothes Nursing bras/tanks Slippers Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, razor, chap stick, hair brush, mousse, face wash) Makeup Straightener Tablet, lap top, cords and chargers Camera Gift for my daughter baby book Going home outfit for baby Blanket for baby Hat for baby
My hospital provides a lot of things that mom and baby need after delivery (diapers, wipes, pads, creams, etc)
The best thing someone told me to bring with my first was granny panties in case of a c section. No one plans on having one but I ended up doing it and was so thankful I had them since I ended up a c section! I had bought a pack of cheap ones, and ended up cutting the elastic part off afterwards to make them more comfortable after surgery. Worked like a charm and I just pitched them afterwards!
I usually read before going to sleep but I didn't bring a book. Even though I was exhausted after delivery my adrenalin kicked in and I couldn't fall asleep. Someone found me something to read but it was not my kind of book!
I feel like PPs gave a good list but my hospital also has a good one that talks about what they have vs. what you should bring. You might want to ask your hospital/birth center what they provide or check out the tour before you finalize your list.
@Beckydewell My husband suggested this too! I told him not to stop there. I want champagne, sushi, and Excedrin Migraine. All of the things I've missed most this pregnancy. Oh, and my friend who gave birth in the same hospital told me that Jimmy Johns delivers so I'll also get a turkey sandwich delivered to me in the room at some point.
Oh man. I have FI strict orders for a beer the moment the doctors and nurses have left the room. I will be chugging that beer in all it's glory.
I was contemplating the same thing! My fave beer is a winter seasonal and only available for a few months. I want to be able to celebrate the birth and enjoy the ale while I still can!

I applaud the PP who mentioned bringing a straightener. I can see where looking nice would help one feel more normal, but honestly, fixing my hair was sort of the last thing on my mind during my last hospital stay. (You can imagine that all of the pictures taken in the hospital last time show this to be true!)
I also think the idea of bringing a book sounds good. I was exhausted, but I also felt strangely anxious and unable to sleep in the beginning. It was almost like I was afraid to go to sleep (which was weird because DS was right there in the room with us and we could hear his every move/grunt/whatever). Having a book on hand may have helped me feel more normal, which maybe would have helped me fall asleep.
And ditto the granny panties. I've only had a c-section delivery, and the mesh panties they give you in the hospital are .... interesting. It seems you either love them or hate them. But a large pair of granny panties would be comfortable, even with a c-section incision healing up.

I went there and got sucked into the Pitbull Fireball video. Still not sure how to pack a bag, but who cares when you can just shake your bootie to Pitbull?
I LOVE that song.
I love Pitbull. I have a not-so-secret crush on him. I tell my husband I wanna rub his head and watch him move his hips. He just laughs at me :-\"
I saw him in concert last year. Amazing.

I like the little checklist on the bottom of the Pregnant Chicken post . . . along with some snacks for your "co-pilot" in the hospital! I went into labor first thing in the morning (5:30-6-ish), got to the hospital close to 8, had DS at 2:30 pm. He was a total ball of nerves & didn't eat anything the whole time until I got upstairs into my post-delivery room around 4:30 & I could tell he was about to pass out! I've already got a box of granola bars & little pouches of applesauce in my bag for him (or DS when they bring him in to visit) in case we're a little too busy every time the cafeteria is open again.
Myles was so pumped about the baby . . . until he figured out he'd have to share all his toys!!! >
His bag i will pack soon as i wont be needing anything from it. Mine i will do in the fly as i will need a lot of the stuff but will pack what isnt needed until then.. Car seat will be done early jan... When i get around to purchasing it
