On a serious note: my college roommate grew up next to a cemetery and said there were ambulances there frequently because older people trip and either twist an ankle/knee/hip/back or hit a tombstone. The ground is uneven and people aren't focusing on walking.

So, be sure to hold the hand or arm of your parents and grandparents as they walk. It's apparently fairly common.

(I know this is a troll post but I found this tidbit of info interesting!).

But I have to be serious for a sec: OP, is this a cultural superstition? (My town in Mexico won't let kids near the cemetery on Day of the Dead; I'd like to think it's because they think kids don't have the gravitas to honor the dead, but I know it's superstition at play.)

Depends on the human/ghost ratio. If you are going to a small cemetery with a large group you are ok, but if you are going to a large cemetery with a small group then I would avoid it. Always make sure the ghost/human ratio isn't more than 10:1

It's indigenous cultural practice in my country for pregnant women to rinse their hands under water when leaving a funeral or cemetery to 'cleanse' maybe this is similar. Come back and tell us though!

I believe that's what Dia de los muertos is in the Philippines? Due to the cultural aspect of why you're going I understand your concern, but just be careful when walking through. Hold on to someone so you don't trip and if you are going to be cleaning and decorating someone's grave just don't drink the cleaning product or light yourself on fire when lighting candles.

Yes it's fine to go to the grave yard darling. I have been several times to visit late relatives & lay flowers. I sat talking to my late rels & cleaned their headstones.
Go ahead & light candles. Light one from me to your family too please.

Oh man, this was the best/worst question today.

If you go, I would wear a sheet ghost costume. That way the boogies won't bother you, they'll think you're just one of the gang. Also, bring an offering for the Great Pumpkin.
